Ebay. I don't think Lufkin makes anything other than tape measures and stick rulers nowadays. |

Depending on the design they use (mine are Mititoyo) you could possibly make your own replacement.
Look into a plastic injection mold base supplier catalog.
They sell hardened ejector pins (must be ground, glass hard).
- Or return pins (hard but machinable)
They come in various lengths, and diameters both metric and standard dimensions.
Mic your pin diameter, order a pin that is slightly longer, cut the head off of it.... finish to length.
If yours just has a ring with a set screw on the end for a stop, it should be an easy deal to replace it. Maybe have an industrial machine shop butt the ends flat and square with a surface grinder and vee-block.
Example: http://www.dmscomponents.com/pins_sleeves/ps2.htm
DMS (Die Mold Supply) is one vendor, there are many others. |

hmm... I will get it out tomorrow and measure the rod... I know I am missing the 0-3 but I have a 1-2... I only want to use it to measure deck height so I may customize the only rod I have to work with my deck height tool and be done with it...
EBay is also another good source just didn’t see any rods that would fit the one I have... but I do see an adjustable one that can be used... you loosen the top and slide the rod down to zero it out then tighten the top and measure.
The one I have has a cap on top with a stop on it so once you slide it down and put the cap on it its locked in (no side set screw)
thnx for that idea... I will look into it |

I did find one of these lastnight... Once it gets in it may do the trick...
This way I should be able to zero it out while its on teh deck height tool and measure from there.. |

They are all over Ebay. Get you one w/ all the rods in it. Lufkins have not been made a long time. I use one set in the garage for general machine work. One you can drop and don't mind. LOL.
I love Mitutoyos, Fowler, Starret, or Browne/Sharpe. |

I have an old Lufkin 0-1 depth mic... I think it was a San Jose fleamarket purchase of mine 30+ years ago. And to think that all this time, I thought mine was the last one in the world! haha!
If I remember right, the rods are a bastard size compared to Starrett and Mititoyo, I tried to interchange them once, different diameter and base lengths I think (been a long time), so it was a no-go. You'd be better off just buying a complete kit, 0-3 or 0-4" with all the rods. |

thnx guys... I did buy the one above... will wait to see if it will work... if not I will sell what I have and get a new one... My lufkin may be old but its spot on... and works like the day it was made... Good ole American made tool... All I need is a rod to measure smaller depth with... I do have my eye on a new Starret kit though... just dont need to drop the cash... unless I cant get what I need. |
