epowell wrote: My Dad bought his in Sweden while over there on a sabbatical in the 60's... on his way back he drove it all around the UK, and then had it shipped to NYC (got it broken into the first night in NYC and lost all his new audio equipment), then drove it across the continent to BC where he continued to drive it for years. We made many trips to California in it to visit family.
This pic is from Bakersfield in the late 60's.

Edit: might be 1968, the trailer is my Grandparents' and their new Chevy (partly visible) was I think a '68.
The Herculean kid that looks like Fabio is me, the other my brother. ( )

1966 bus bought for $200 in the late seventies - pop riveted, bondoed, house painted, etc. I used to strip the trim as it rusted there first. This one lasted for about 5 years before it corroded (due to driving in salt). This photo was from 1981 when we were skiing in Quebec. We would leave a catalytic (white gas) heater running inside the bus while we were out so it was warm when we got back.

Then...
Now..
My bus in Joshua Tree National Park in the early 70s. Back then, JTNP was still a National Monument. The lady I bought the bus from had owned the bus with her late husband since 1969. It's still happily living in Joshua Tree! |
