Hey guys my head builder is really dragging his feet and I'd like to get my engine back together. I was planning to just do a valve job on the old ones while I had the engine apart Waiting on a couple other parts. Well the parts have been here a for a week and he hasn't started on it. The valves are a little worn and there is a tiny bit of wear in the guides. The guy is doing it for free so I can't bust his balls. Also he blasted the heads and valves so I have to let him finish now. And they aren't worth sending them out in my opinion.
This is going on a 1600 turbo by the way. Going to run E85 and as much boost as possible.
Anyway, I was thinking maybe it would be smarter to just grab a pair of these AA 500 40x35 stock heads? I already have some single HD springs to put in them. Just wondering if there is a better deal on heads out there. With the discount these come out to $289 for the pair. Can't imagine it gets any cheaper than that. I've read some decent reviews. Wadda ya think?

Oh crap I just realized after typing all this those heads don't have any valve. That makes it way less appealing! I was thinking that under $300 for some decent heads is a smoking deal! No wonder! |

I have used these a couple years ago and was very pleasantly surprised. The casting was really nice and the workmanship looked good. No complaints from the customer.

That's crazy cheap, are you sure that's not for bare castings? but more especially going on a turbo it's perhaps not the place to scrimp. I don't think singles will cut it either
Look at Mofoco rassers, load of gravity in them, i have a pair going on a turbo 1915 can be specced with dual springs. |

Yeah it is bare. This is just a cheap engine while I'm building my stroker. I don't really even want to spend $289 on it really. |

These are only slightly more. But I don't know that I even want to spend this. This wasn't the plan!

That's about the same as these at car craft. But CIP has free shipping and no tax if I'm not mistaken. If I spend any money on it I'd like to get slightly bigger valves than stock. |

Same here. I have had a pair on my mostly stock 1600 in my 61 bug for about the same amount of time and no problems at all!

I believe that there is a variation with a smaller diameter spark plug with bigger valves. |

I believe that there is a variation with a smaller diameter spark plug with bigger valves. I would suggest Mofoco as well, but if you want inexpensive, there arent many options. And yeah CIP1 no tax or shipping. Stuff comes really fast typically. Have received several orders within the last month that arrived within 5 days with their economy shipping. |

I don't see a regular big valve version there.
Also if I was going to spend much more I'd get Panchitos. |
