hi i had a scat 12.5 forged flywheel and with the starter 12 V ( not 6 volt ) make a terrible grinding noise i also test a hi torque starter....... and its the same...........
also if i want to start the engin for long time i will destroyed the starter gear.......
ps the bushing in the gearbox is new and the right for the 12 v starter........ |

| Are you sure there are the correct amount of teeth on the flywheel? IIRC there are some 12volt flywheels with a different tooth pattern (bus vs bug?). |

| What are you using as a bell housing for the starter? If the starter isnt secure, you will have problems |

i use half cut beetle original gearbox...........
that works right with all the engine that i rebuilt............ |
