im thinking of modifying my engine to get more torque im wondering witch is a better option can or rockers and witch is easier to instal and less head aches in the long run. thanks

A change in rockers will yield minimal results, in most cases not worth the effort, and only then if the valve train is set up for the added lift.
Usually just not worth it unless your engine has the wrong rockers for the cam it has to begin with.

A change in cam will yield major results, but is the most time consuming to do, a complete tear down of the engine is required.

Ratio rockers open the valves faster as well as farther.

When I looked into ratio rockers I found some flow charts of stock heads. I didn't see a large enough flow improvement past .365" lift to take advantage of the greater lift the rockers woulda gave. IIRC between .365 and .415" was only a few CFM increase, for the money that didn't seem worth it.. I ended up stock heads with a mild cam BTW

Gotta look at the motor as a complete package. It seems pointless to change a cam without a mild increase elsewhere (heads, carbs, exhaust).

My .02 cents :)

i have a stock 75 fuel injected case but is carborated with a 34 pict 3 , thee guy at the shop is trying to talk me in to a i think its called a eagle 100 cam i an tring to compensate for larger tires , im planing on running a webber pergresive 32 36 but im counting my pennies at the moment my exhaust is the 4 tipped gt stile ones and i am planing on getting 87 mm pistons

For what it's worth I will tell you this now. Rethink your combo, you can do much better. Save your coins and build something worthwhile. Have you read these tech articles?

The fuel injected cases are stronger then the standard AS41s. I would hold on to that case, getting tougher to find and more expensive these days.

Waste of time even thinking about that kids stuff
run the progressive if you have it but don't buy one it is a poorly designed system
87mm is a joke, you won't even feel that, try some thick wall 92 or 94mm P&C set
Torque is CC's; make it bigger, or stay stock, don't think that you will notice a .060 overbore. It is placebo effect if it is anything

You need to change gearing, no other way to compensate for larger tires.
Horsepower won't do it, especially with what you talking about trying, huge waist of money.

i always wanted to stroke the engine but every one says it has to be machined no mater what size stroke it is
and the 74 mm is the one i wanted to
i want to stay as far away from machining my engine as much as posible i dont want to take away any meat out of the cylender aria and make my case weaker and pull out those studs , i have a 4.37 waiting to go in my trans but that only makes up for 6 percent of the 10 percent i lost and dont want to lose to much top end

well thanks for the input guys

the best way to not do any thing to it is to not do any thing to it, leave it alone and you wont need any machining till it needs maching.

The biggest improvement your going to see for a limited budget is getting dual carbs and a good 4 into 1 exhaust. Changing cam, rockers, and 87mm pistons will not give you the best bang for the buck on a tight budget. As Modoc pointed out if you already have a 32/36 then run it. If you don't then do not waste your money buying one.
