I have to swap the tranny in my BAJA...no sure what happened :roll: :lol: :lol: Anyway while I am in there I am thinking of cutting the stock clutch arm and lengthening it to reduce pedal pressure. Does 100mm from center to center sound right...should I go longer?? Bruce???

I have the 100 arm on mine it's great .and relubing the peddels&cable , new bowden,helped a lot too. I need a long one for my rino trans, but with the price jump on the long arms Ill just have to make one.
if you go longer you may not have enough peddel travel.

I got mine from Bruce. It's a great mod, esp. if you run a clutch heavier than stock. It eases the force required at the pedal, and also helps reduce stress on the cable and hook. I believe mine is a 100mm also.

I had no issue with clearance but the cable bracket needs sloting so it can be adjusted for a better pulling angle with the longer arm.I had thought about making a pivoting bracket so it would fallow the arc and less wear of the bowden tube&cable.

Slotting the cable tube bracket only works on trans that have a removeable bracket. Most are cast into the side cover, in which case the cable will wear more at the top, due to the longer arm

cut off the bracket & add longer studs and an irs type bracket.

AC.n sells a long arm as seen in my gallery. I just did the conversion .

just wondering, would extending the arm change the throw on the cross shaft/throw out bearing? I am thinking about doing a longer arm and was just wondering what (if any) consequences there may be

I installed mine about 4 years ago, zero negative effects what so ever. It does make a noticeable difference.

It does shorten the throw but with a good PP it's no problem.
I made an early one, 4", two welded together. Even put the holes in it cause I wanna be cool like Bruce.

With my 9-spring PP I could make it 6" long and still have enough travel.

it is a kennedy stage 1 with a copperhead disk. any reason to worry? and what is the length overall? I keep seeing 100mm, but is that hole-to-hole or a overall measurement?

I have not been able to find out that tidbit of info

100 mm long clutch arm = easier clutch pedal and release better timed and predictable with stage 1. Also, weld reinforce clutch tube behind ebrake handle and check welds at front and back of clutch tube.

that would be great! I would like to know as I may make one (have a bunch kicking around) but I have not checked the availability of them either.

some threads (old ones) mention that they were out of stock everywhere, but they were pretty old threads

The longer arm will result in more peddle travel for a given throwout bearing travel. If the peddle travel is kept the same, the throwout bearing will move less.

center to center being from the cross shaft hole to the wingnut hole, correct? I know the wingnut hole is a bit oval, that's why I ask.

I was also afraid if I made it too long that it may over extend the throw out bearing, messing with the pressure plate
