View original topic: Which way to go carb or distributor ?

I currently have kads with a 009 that are on my 1600 dp. Im ready to have my 1776 rebuilt and want to use the dual carb set on it. I'm going to switch out the carbs on the 1600 for the stock single 34 pict. but the stock distributor is crap. My question is Is it more cost effective to buy a carb for the 009 or a distributor for 34 pict :?:

You can't really get a carb that works optimally with a 009, so that leaves you with finding a better distributor - what do you have now?

A 30 PICT will work great with the 009 on a 1600. You will need the adapter to get it to fit the manifold but the 30+ mpg will make you smile

I wouldn't say great, but good. There are definitely better choices, but if on a budget, I see no harm in a 009.

My 34 pict 3 is pretty new so I wouldn't mind springing for a good distributor I was just looking for a good combo with out buyer remorse . I have a Chinese 009 and a new bocar 34 pict 3 . What's a good replacement for the 205 n vac
Distributor ?

a 34 pict should use a 034 SVDA not a 205N which is matched to a 28 PICT on a 1200 40hp. It seems right now all SVDAs are made in china and the cans do not work the same as an original unit.

Cheaper than buying one that doesn't work.

Here I have a genuine Bosch of Mexico 034 single vacuum advance distributor in the box. New never been used. Look at the pictures! I ship USPS priority mail shipping $15 anywhere in the lower 48.

Agreed, Glenn, and not much more than buying a Pertronix and having to take it apart, clean, grease and adjust.
