Wow, fantastic detail and technique. I'll be watching this one!

I'm slowly working on the same kit myself, but I'll be hard pressed to match this quality of finish.

It's so dark, almost like Tim Burton had his hand in the choice of paint for the interior! Love it!

O My God this suitcase! The scratchbuilding is off the charts....

Siara Sun Nov 25, 2012 4:09 am

Thank you guys! :D

Next stage- headlining. To cut the story short i modified the shape of the kit part, added ribbing, scratch built the dome light, and assist straps with the coat hangers. All the seals in the windows were scribed as the kit part is lacking the seals altogether.

Next in line is the body of the car.
Lot of work awaits here, and i'm starting by removing the strengthening bars from the doors, and the luggage compartment:

The roof was drilled for the sun roof opening:

The hole is done:

Insides of the luggage compartment. I didn't strain myself here, as the bonnet will be shut:

I also bought the range of blue colours, and few shades of brown for rust effects. Im slowly getting the picture in my head of how i like this bug to be painted:

This build is pretty fantastic!!
You also have great 'weight' on the T-2!

At last the PE part is ready:

I set to improve the most difficult part of the build- the engine grilles.
Here how it looks like straight from the box:

Holes were drilled:

...and the original grilles removed:

...after marking the outside of the PE part on the body the groove was cut for the PE to sit flush:

New grilles in place:

After some filling, and sanding it should look just OK:

Siara Sun Jan 06, 2013 12:37 pm

Front of the car needs a lot of attention.
The horn grilles are wrong shape for the 1950 split.
The cast is not perfect here also, as theres lot of imperfections due to the molding process. The area around the lights in particular being really bad.

Only way to tackle this was to remove the piping from fenders, and filling the grilles.

The rear piping also gone.

After filling, and sanding i sprayed the body with gray primer to look for more imperfections:
