Here's a 1989 VW Karmann Cheetah for sale in germany on thesamba classifieds.
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1933640
What's funny is that the Cheetah model has more options for the cab, like electric windows, power steering, carpeted interior cab, but less camping equipment, or less refined camping equipment... Not sure exactly what, but that's the way they roll...
And the Gipsy model has less options for the cab, like manual windows, manual streering (that one really sucks, like mine), rubber mats up front, metal dash... But better camping equipment, like water boiler, propane heater...
This model here does not show any pics for the cab area, so don't know whats on here.
Hint hint... The seller is more than welcome to post more pics here!

You completely dismantled that gipsy, and build it back!
I just checked your thread in bulliforum, and i probably already saw some pics on the karmann gipsy forum.
I really liked what you did to put the mufflers on each side.
Nice touch to cut the bottom sides at 45 degrees for some more clearance.
You totally deserve your own thread here with explanations in english. |

Another special camper!
Right on thesamba classifieds, under bus, not vanagon.
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1936756
1969 bus motorhome special Price: 10500 obo
1969 westy highly modified into a full size motorhome rv travel machine. stock wheel base, over cab bed, almost 6ft headroom, and about 7 ft wide. Its not pretty but it could be, solid bus no rust, solid chassis , floors, etc. converted in the late 70's by a company out of Boise ID. runs and drives, strong 1600 dual port, new brakes, acc cable, clutch cable, fuel lines, misc. twin gas tanks probably 40 gallon capacity, walk through, good trans, I have driven it 40 miles on the freeway handles like a bus, but has a ton of living space, full size propane tank, electric/propane fridge, propane 2 burner stove, water tank, sink, bed, overhead bed, closets, and tons of character. would be awesome with wood work redone and a sweet paint job. ready to roll, don't be fooled by regular busses, they just don't have the space and comfort this baby's got! trades welcome as long as they involve a bus and cash combo, no deluxes though , unless they have been shortened.. make an offer
, can deliver locally or even to the port if someone overseas wants to step up to the oversize camper scene. I would keep it but I already got an oversized vw camper and don't want to be a hog. all offers welcome, low ball, high ball, serious or otherwise.

You can see the front of that vw split bus stretch airstream on this pic...
It does look like they stretched it the "regular" way, with two buses, one cut right behind the drivers seat, and the other cut before the engine bay.
...Mmmm... It kinda looks longer...

Another find!
These "For Sale" adds are the best to find these extremely rare models.
This Kranich model had the interior renovated, very beautifuly done!
Unfortunately I don't know how is an original interior. Very curious to know how they build these back in the day.
-A metal frame! No wood rot!
-The rear end is longer than a Karmann Gipsy, allowing more counter space.
-The floor is raised in the middle. Probably some storage accessed from driver's side.
-Huge rear storage.
-Probably higher too...
For sale in Greece.
The add found here:

Cool ride Felix!
What did you use to construct the walls? It looks like some kind of composite layers with Fiberglas on the exterior.
Thanks |

Well i found an original one on ebay.
1982 aircooled Volkswagen T3 Kranichi von Bischofberger
4,510 €
http://m.ebay.de/itm/191585294039?_trkparms=aid222...0107.m2460
Here you can clearly see how they did the raised rear floor, just inches lower than the engine floor.
Also on another picture you can see another interior floor trap door... What for? I don't know.
Edit: did you guys notice the little safety (edit: security, not safety...  ) device on the front passenger door?

These are cool rigs, I'm really liking the large fiberglass unit.
One thing that makes me keep my Westy is it FITS in the garage.
The"safety device" on the passenger door. Look closely at your 5th picture, is it not also present on the driver's door? Maybe a security device? |

I also love those wheels!
But don't know nothing about them.
You better copy paste your message and post it on the wheels part 2 thread.
Good luck! |
