Some updated pictures:

The Pre-49 speedo I'm using for Hebster:

The first pre-49 repro taillights I´ve made.

Those repros are really impressive. My skill level is nowhere close to that...

Btw, it looks like you have quite a capable little helper...

Finally! My pre-49 speedo is back from the restorer!

I wanted to keep the original face because I liked the patina on it. The odometer is totally rebuilt though. :D And so is the needle.

That speedo is going to look sick

Started finally to work some on Hebster's rear decklid again.

This is what I accomplished in 45 seconds today... :D

It still is a bit rough but when I put some more work on it I think it will be quite allright? The lower left corner is too sharp, otherwise it looks pretty close to the real Kdf-pressing.

very nice work . never seen the insde of one , what do they do with the fire wall for the engine compartment, does it stay in that position?

Hebster52 Sat Sep 02, 2006 8:33 am

Yes, the firewall is in the stock positon.

clickypens52 Sat Sep 02, 2006 9:42 am

wow

that's looking like you're almost done

very good job

Hebster52 Sat Sep 02, 2006 10:23 am

The last picture isn't mine. I just found a picture in the gallery to show volkswagenut how the firewall looks on an original...

clickypens52 Sat Sep 02, 2006 10:34 am

Nothing done to the Hebster visually atleast the past year as I was working on the KidVrod all the free time I could find....

I will now continue working on this and hopefully get it finished sometime in the near future...

So, how's your project hebster now, man? :D

Hebster52 Wed Aug 01, 2007 3:06 am

Vot time is it??

Time to unleash the Hebster in me!

Thee Midniters Wed Aug 01, 2007 11:51 am

What did you do to make your KDF-pressing for the rear decklid?

Hebster52 Wed Aug 01, 2007 1:06 pm

Here's a decklid I made for a friend of mine. This one was done better from the beginning. On my own decklid I need to do some fixing to get the correct shape...

First I just rolled it in my home made Englishwheel. Then I finished it by hammering and some more rolling..

Hebster52 Thu Aug 02, 2007 11:13 am

I started with some small details yesterday. I mounted the small throttlepedal roller. As the Hebster will become a replica of the first prototype made by the Hebmuller factory all the pre-49 details must be there.

Is that an original roller, or did you fab it?

Hebster52 Fri Aug 03, 2007 1:33 am

That small roller is a repro from Gary (Brezelwerks)

Thank you Gary! It is perfect! :D

Have not been able to go to the garage and work on the Double Cab the past week so I decided to do some work in the home garage instead..

Painted the pedals for Hebster and assembled them:
