Greetings all,

I am trying to find a balance shop in the Tampa, FL. area. I have contacted all the VW shops in my area (fisher buggies, baggerly's, and various speed shops) trying to find someone to no avail. I would like to avoid shipping if all all possible and as the saying goes a closed mouth doesn't get fed. So any pointers would be appreciated.

Regards,

~Dave.

years ago fisher told me they had somebody do it for them.most good performance engine shops can do it if they realy know what there ding and why there doing it. the vw is so simple&easy to balance.although not all machines can do them. there are about 3~4 machines I wish I still had and that is one of them.

When I built my engine, I took my rotating assembly to http://cornellbalancing.com/ They have 2 locations in FL. I took mine to the Ft Myers place. It may be a little far, but maybe not.
I was truely happy with the work they did. They even centered my pressure plate and installed pins in my flywheel to keep it exactly on center and charged me nothing for that work. Reasonable turn around too. My engine has about 13,000 miles and runs like a dream.

Since you're in Tampa I would be wear of fisher buggies. Bad people.

Eisele's Auto Machining on Broadway, or United Speed World on Florida.

Phill Joyner who owns United has had a few VW's, in fact he had a baja the last time I was in there. His son had a rail as well. They have equipment that is only a few years old.

Just wondering if any of these balance shops are still around and if they are still recommended. I know the thread is over 2 years old.

most v8 shops can do it,not all but most.if they dont want to or dont know how to, do not let them try, it's not worth it. and any machinist that knows what there doing on a v8 would also know what to do on a vw.so...dont take your v8 stuff there either  I wish I still had a balancer, Im sure I could do a few a week with no addvertizing at all. it's not rocket building but it does need to be done right.not half right or street right,it needs to be right.remember the engine dosent know what it is or where it is.

You can send it up to me... I am doing a balance job from KY middle of this week.

I am surprised you are not finding a balance shop. Should be all over the place there.

LIke finding machines in Cleveland, OH - they are on every corner. If wifey would have agreed, I would move to OH!!! Machines galore!

Talk to a few local circle-track guys. They will know where to get it done.

unless its a nascar most "local" circle jerkers are so effing cheep&stupid they dont spend$$ on balance job  as thise motors dont last long enough any way  .....possiably because it's....NOT BALANCED!!and they try to cut every corrner they can on and off the track. I did a few circle motors & other work, but it got to where I would refuze&send them down the road to the guy that would do what they wanted(usualy wash the shit off & tell them those cracks or bent valves or dead guides whatever was just fine and do no work.) it's either my way or I dont/wont do it.
