I wanted to start a topic for my Type Three Squareback. I bought her last summer, about to bring her down to Atlanta Georgia here in March. Here are some of the first pictures of her:

Nice Square. 8) Looks like it used to be white. Is that VW blue on it now? Or something close?
Joey, that hitch is protected by the 4 tip muffler. Those tips WILL rip your shins open before you get to the hitch.
Looks like Georgia got some snow this winter. |

Yeah, we definitely got plenty of snow! Too much for most of the folks down here.
Yeah, gotta watch your legs when you're walking around the back  she's ready to stab.
I'm looking out for a correct year hatch for when I can find one. Maybe at Bug-a-palooza or the Type Three Invasion in June. We'll see whatever works best.
I have the covers to put over the rear hatch hinges and I've already put in the horn rim ring.
She was originally white by the color in the doors and around. Cobalt blue, I think she was painted, later on.

Interchangeable, but the 67 horizontal text is something I want. And all of the vw emblems I have (4) won't fit the diagonal sizing, so no emblem on the back because of it, unfortunately. |

Got wind of this thread from the List and saw this.

A 1968 hatch wouldn't be correct, right? |

I believe that a 68 hatch is the same as a 67 hatch. The only change was made, to my knowledge, for the 71 to the 73. |

Diagonal lettering was 1973. There was a change in the light housing, but can't remember when... Es ist spate...
The reason I ask is I have a hatch off a 1968 Squareback that was totaled and didn't find a home for the hatch. Now I am concerned it will just go to waste. So you can have it, but need to figure out the logistics. Too bad no one from the Southwest isn't going to the Invasion. |

Right now I'm moving out of dorms and into an apartment. Well, I'm actually homeless for a couple of days until I get the apartment settled out, but all is well.
I've got Scone stuffed with most everything I own, since I had to close out the dorm.

I forgot to mention here what happened on the way down from Missouri, I believe. So I'll relate it now. We had Scone up on a trailer for as long as we could
The biggest problem we had to my knowledge at first was an oil leak from Scone. We had just changed the oil. I think it was the valve covers, but I'll change those here at the next oil change when I adjust the valves and see if it sorts itself out. It's not a problem so much because I check the oil so often and carry extra with me. About 90 miles out of Atlanta, Georgia, however, we had a bigger problem. The hub blew on one of the trailer wheels
see the smoke pouring out from it?
we ended up taking that tire off to see how the trailer sat, and it was a couple inches off the ground for the trailer's rear drum break. Not good.
ended up pulling Scone off to relieve weight on the trailer. Drove back the 90 miles leading the truck and got in about 3 in the morning. No license plate all the way back, but luckily no one saw up and pulled me over. Speedo and odometer were not working (still aren't, I need to figure out how to get that cable back in). used my phone as a speedo with a free app.
