Anyone ever had a Bosch rev limiter go bad? Mine is a 6200rpm and it has started cutting out around 4000rpm. It is only 2 years old and i have only hit that 6200 mark a couple of times.....seriously a couple of times.

There's a spring that controls the rpm range. I guess your spring is bad.

Yes they wear out and must be replaced just like a regular rotor.

Soooooo. If the spring is bad, can just the spring be replaced?

Spring is calibrated.... Change spring and it changes what rpm limiting takes place. springs counters centrifugal force of plunger in rotor... Example is you spring is either stretched or gone soft (worn out) and now it limits at a lower rpm... Stiffer spring will move range of limit upwards, and to stiff spring will make it so there is no limiting...

Other possibility is rotor material is breaking down and allowing arc to travel to ground of dist shaft, inspect rotor body for cracks or arc trails...
