Yeh, everyone has the repro springs and the props now. Here's WW's links:
Spring:

Prop:

Any feedback on the quality of the reproduction decklid/treasure chest door props by WW?
Do they fit and work as well as original?

Bought the set for my SC, as I was missing the original. Tried it at the treasure chest and decklid with no problem (just didn’t want to dig out the OG one while test-fitting doors). |

Does anyone know where I can find an engine lid prop bracket the one that attaches to the decklid? Like this one.

Adding to what EB said, Mark also makes the earlier prop tab, so confirm which one is correct the application: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=946375. I've purchased this one and installed it - no problem and looks great. |

Excellent video, Niko. Really well produced and easy to follow. Another tip: make sure you test the bolt clearance before closing the decklid the first time. I had to tweak my bracket a bit cause it was causing some miss in clearance and kept bumping up against the frame area. |

Nice work on the video, I'm impressed you got the angle and the lighting good when you moved up into the spring area inside the corner.
I know I'd mess that up.
I noticed you didn't have the washer for the decklid prop bolt?

Good pick up, was wondering if a keen eye would pick it up :) |

Fwiw you can use that bolt without the washer on the seat back of the 1/3 front seat especially if the threaded hole is stripped. Use two nuts jammed to keep it there. |

I have sure loved this thread the last couple of days !
I have 2 of these Lid Stays, inherited from the previous owner of my Single Cab. My third one, i installed yesterday and was already in one piece.
Question: Have other folks had to 'assemble' their Engine \ Treasure Chest Stays, and if so, what did they use for the 'pin' ?

I'm searching for the correct position to mount the support prop tab on the engine lid on a 63 Bus. The distance needs to be spot on for the support prop to work correctly.
I have searched for this measurement without any luck. |

I added some measurements I found in another thread to the first post in this thread.

Kommercial wrote: The measurement I had on my website is; From the bottom edge of the bracket to the bottom edge of the decklid is 11 3/4" on passenger side of decklid. This is referring to the early style tab, 55-59. The 60-63 one is 10 11/16 from the bottom edge of the lid to the bottom lip of the mid style bracket. The 64 and later one is 12 7/8 to the sharp point of the bottom of the bracket but that bracket is a little less symmetrical then the two earlier ones so results may vary. These are all stock mounting points using correct brackets. |
