I've watched so many videos, and googled everything under the sun to find out how to turbo. I need a list as to what I need to turbo. I know how to run the exhaust and everything, but I don't know how to run oil to the turbo, or what carb to use. I just need a list on what I need. If you can help, I will be so grateful.

The exhaust needs to be routed to feed into the turbo, oil can be tapped off from the pressure side of the pump, carb can be before the turbo, after if turbo-prepped, or for the best and safest, go EFI (though it is also the most expensive.)

Every turbo install seems to be unique, unless you buy a kit, so I'd suggest doing a few searches here and looking at how others did it for the "everything." Seriously, though, if you know that little you should start with a HiPo N/A engine and work your way up.

Just install a T at the oil pressure to feed the Turbo,If u tap into the pump outlet u can kill 'Skeeters' outlet on the bottom of turbo needs to be at la good size I think mine is 1/2",good reads are Turbomaina and Turbochargers by Hugh MacInnes,, more turbo guys are over on www.shoptalkforums.com ,Weber sidedraft DCOE or a dell carb work well for 'draw threw',,Madmike

I use one of these unions for oil return line, dry oil sump can and the rest, also has my oil pressure unit attached to it (similar to this, anyway). also use a sidedraft Dellorto 48

You need to know how to tune a turbo engine before you go slapping parts on it, so the logical follow up question is what is your level of tuning ability and do you have the right tools at your disposal? If the answer to those questions is 'very little' and 'none', I'd advise you seek out some knowledge before you make your screen name a reality.

ha! didn't even notice that! it's true, my setup takes a lot more time and cussing than my wife's non-turbo dual carb 1776

Yup. Mini is right. This isnt a simple endeavor.

Also need to have an oil restrictor at the turbo. Cant just pump 30+ psi and corresponding volume full tilt into it.
You ask the manufacturer of the turbo what restrictor jet size they recommend.
They will tell you and thats what you buy. Keeps your turbo alive and happy and doesnt blow the seals out the first day.

Email aj at lowbugget and get a few outlines from him.

You can get a kit with a standard t3/t4 and a draw through 2 barrel and make very nice power.
Local guy to me has a home made kit with a T3 off a nissan 300zx. One of AJs draw thru 2 barrels.
I tuned it for him, 7 psi and 20 degrees timing his 1679 made 130 WHP.

runs like a top and we havent even turned it up yet.

HAVE to have a wideband so you can see the AFR at all times.

Mappable ignition is very good to have too if you plan to daily drive it. Having fixed timing SUCKS.

Correction: a restrictor is typically only REQUIRED on ball bearing turbochargers. I have never needed one on the journal bearing turbos and I've never had a problem with them, but you do have to make sure the drain is perfectly clear and drains above oil level in either case. The people that seem to have the most trouble are the ones draining to a deep sump below oil level like with the CB sedan header.

A -3 feed line without a resrictor will usually work out for most turbos.

A large, straight drain is probably the most important. My Subaru IHI turbo has a 5/8ths or metric equivalent size drain.

I'm never dissatisfied with posting to these forums. I have every tool you can think of using (family owns body shop/dad is very extensive with his tool collection). You guys basically just told me everything I need to know. Thank you! Any of you know what kind of HP a stock 1600 DP would put down?

My 1679 with 16 lbs boost and a 2.24 second 60 ft. did 99.2 mph in the quarter. It was spinning heavily in first and short shifted into second at 4800 rpm.
I'm sure it has more in it since I'm at 17 lbs now......
With a better 60 ft. and more boost it could see low to mid 13's fairly soon.

Here is my Iphone Dynoliscious run from last fall.

Acceleration
0-10 MPH: 1.43 sec
0-20 MPH: 2.20 sec
0-30 MPH: 3.20 sec
0-40 MPH: 4.09 sec
0-50 MPH: 5.35 sec
0-60 MPH: 6.72 sec
0-70 MPH: 8.11 sec
0-80 MPH: 10.07 sec
0-90 MPH: 12.68 sec
Elapsed Time
60': 2.24 sec @ 27.4 MPH
330': 6.07 sec @ 59.8 MPH
1/8 mi: 9.17 sec @ 78.4 MPH
1000': 11.88 sec @ 90.1 MPH
1/4 mi: 14.17 sec @ 99.2 MPH
