I have been following several threads about engine tuning and initial set up and have become confused over the vast and varried info there is on this board. Here is where Im at. I have just instaled a 1776 into my 73 Ghia. The carbs are synched and mixture adjusted. My big problem is what to set the valve clearance at. I have the steel / chromeoly (spelling) push rods I have a 110 cam. will the cam affect the gap ? Should I set all the valves at .002 . I had initialy set the valves .004 and .006 but it makes quite a lot of valve train noise. Runs Ok but just not right. I also need to play with the jets as I have a stunble and backfire through the carbs at moderate acceleration. Hope you can shed some lite on these questions. Thanks. |
