hello, For my baja project, I can transform a swing axle gearbox to IRS system changing parts?

Depends on what swing axle. An early 6 bolt carrier type- no, a late 8 bolt carrier-yes. But by the time you source all the parts and equipment you could just buy an irs box

In my country irs trans in good conditions its so dificult to find....but I have very good condition swing axle 1994 vw 1.6i mexican gear box (similar 1961), and also an old worn IRS (brazilian kombi 1990) gear box, but the crown and pinion is fine, I would like to use Mexican gear box but transform it with the IRS parts to raise the rear suspension in my baja.

Apreciate your advices!!!

The late mexican gearboxes can be converted to irs, however I'm not too familure with the late kombi boxes. A regular irs diff with side covers will work with the mexi trans tho. You will still have to set backlash and bearing pre-load.

In the past disarmed swing axle gear box, I know crown and pinion and internal rigid axle ends and gears, but I've only seen from outside the IRS gear box, I have never seen pinion, crown and internal flanges.

Superbeetle IRS gear box only have a one bolted cover and do not work for me, but the brazilian kombi IRS have both bolted covers, my question is whether it will be necessary to replace the mexican crown and pinion or just need to change the covers and flanges keeping the Mexican crown and pinion ??

The brazilion kombi box is a t-1 hi-roof cased trans axle(aka rhino case, or 081 case) why not just use that?

Because it is in very poor condition internally, 3° and 4° gear noise, second synchronizer is damaged and jump to des-accelerate ..... Only serve the side covers, flanges and possibly crown and pinion .... Mexican gear box In change is in excellent condition ... It would be ideal to combine both to achieve irs box to my baja and save my money for another parts.

Remember the ring and pinion(crown wheel) stay together as they are a matched set, also they stay with the trans they came from. To swap a pinion is a complete rebuild plus additional to get the depth correct. You can swap the ring gear from the swing diff to the irs diff, you still have to set bearing preload and lash. Any more than this and you should tool up and build the kombi trans.

Sorry, for technical problems of language I do not understand something important, I'd like to keep the Mexican gear box and only changes parts needed to transform the IRS differential ends, that is possible?

- For this I must also change the brazilian ring and pinion IRS ??
- Or I can keep the Mexican ring and pinion and just install the flanges and covers IRS?

Yes, but you have to keep the mexican ring gear with the mexican trans
