My newbuilt 1641 sometimes smokes blue when starting! But not every time!! It that normal or whats wrong?? The engine doesn't have so many miles on it... |

What is not many miles? Maybe it needs more miles for the rings to break in to the cylinder walls. |

drive it like you stole it for a couple hundred miles, see if the smoking stops.
if issues persist there is probably something wrong causing the rings not to seat properly and would have to come apart for inspection. |

My 1679 does it with new P/C's on it too.
I'm not worrying about it. It only seems to do it after a run and then a restart after a short time of sitting.
It's probably the valve guides leaking a bit of oil. |

A sky-blue smoke upon starting is a leaking needle/seat inside of carburetor, don't let that problem snowball into ruining your new engine by thinning the oil with gasoline. |

Blue smoke is oil, not gas. gas will be black or white if it is extremely exessive.
Poor 87's don't seal all that well |
