  View original topic: Mismatched heads

I just disassembled a 1600 DP for rebuilding. The heads that were on it are not the same. Ive searched thru the historical topics and don't think this will be an issue, but want some reassurance. Both heads are "113" castings but physically look very different where they mate with the cylinders. I've attached pictures of the heads. Can I just have these rebuilt and run them? I'm planning to build a slightly upgraded dual port (low end torque is the goal) for a T2A.

Thanks in advance,
dadembk

Do you mean the pad type things on the bottom fin? They don't really do anything, but you can aways cc the heads to be sure.

Yes. I'm referring to the pad area. The shape of the chamber, valve sizes, cooling fins, etc. all appear to be the same. My concern is the internal shape of the ports and knowing their the same. My goal is a very smooth, balanced engine. I didn't want one side to try and run different than the other. Since their both "113", I kind of figured it would be ok (based on forum search) but since it wasn't addressed directly I thought I would ask.

Thanks,

Its not really worth the expense to rebuild a mis matched pair of heads,
( a quality rebuild with all the machining, new guides and valves will cost about as much as a brand new pair of heads anyways)
