Time for an ignorant answer. Could it be part of the flap that controls the fresh air from coming in or not? That could be just one piece of the "sandwich" of flap.

Guess it could have been a part number? Looked like a pretty bold print, don't see any numbers on it or anything, so I remain puzzled.

You could start a vovel like that:

" A piece of paper flew out of the air vent and stuck to Zodiac's sweaty forehead... He tried to read the numbers written on it, but..."

Hmm I don't know about that? I've never seen the insides of it. I think there is either another piece of paper in there or the same peice slid down. Rather strange that someone might put paper in the vent just because?

Chris - I'll leave the writing up to you :wink: and I was probably sweating bullets - that was some white knuckle driving..

You forget, my friend, that writing the story of your car's restoration is, you guessed it, writing a story in real time, as events take place.

Think of writing as story-telling, standing with friends around a barbecue and telling them something interesting. You're already doing that here.

The writing shall continue tomorrow, that bit of paper will bug me to no end. more bodywork, and have to clean all the dust in the garage - priming is set in stone for Saturday. We are also going to paint it matte black too - the whole car - for temperary. we had that paint to use for my old car, I was just going to use it for the roof, but since it will go bad we will just spray the whole thing, then paint it blue when I decide to go get it .

A samba barbecue - sounds fun!

Got the ghia taped off, and ready to prime tomorrow. Did quite abit of sanding too it Aswell, mostly smooth. Don't have high ambitions for it anymore, it IS what it is. Why didn't I just remove the nostrils - I don't quite know. Still need to remove or mask the windshield wipers.

It has come to my attention that I have left my keys in the ignition ](*,) glad I didn't lock myself out.. Hopefully I don't need them while its all taped up.

Hey man. I love your car just how it is! It just shows that someone can appreciate a cool car and piece of history for what it is! I say prime that thing in black (like you are doing) and soon put that blue on whenever you get sick of the black. All it needs are some white walls to finish off the matte black hot rod look.... oh, and some pin striping 8) .

About the keys in the ignition. I have a very bad habit of just shutting the door with the lock on (handle pulled) to shut the door. Locked my self out about 10 times now. Good thing I have a spare set of key. I REALLY advise doing that. Hey, that reminds me of once when I was being cool and using the "OG" keys and the part with the teeth broke off in the ignition :? . New keys for every car after that :lol:

I never lock my ghia, and I used a door handle from a beetle on the passenger side with a ghia part - and I don't even think it locks.. I mainly meant the house, I normally lock myself out of it lol.

My dad was trying to get me to do red rims, going black so it makes the blue pop whenever I go blue. So Temporarily the Ghia will be murdered out 8)

I must say, The Ghia looks pretty damn good in matte black.. looks all business. I am way tired! still have to tear off all of the paper before it completely dries. first time I've ever tried my hand at painting - interesting experience, but there was no organization to the madness - I just kind of did it. if this were gloss I bet it would look like hell. Anyways it's an amazing improvement, very pleased!

Last pic, just a teaser. More pics to follow tomorrow, tore off all of the paper. Rather spectacular looking, wish I didn't paint it black, should've left it primer to give me a reason to get blue - now I want to keep it black.

Love the way the yellow headlights look, along with the nostrils.

Ehh doesn't look great, but it looks better than the before pictures by far. Just going to be sanded anyways!

Didn't do the rims, they look alright white - for now.

don't sweat the paint. wish I could talk the wife into primer till we can get her's done right. might just do it when she's away. And she's good for locking herself out of cars. That's what I like anout my '69 road runner, you have to lock the doors with the keys.

NEVER leave a car in primer.....it attracts moisture and will rot under the primer. You can do a sealer coat, or an epoxy coat, but not regular primer.

Yeppnot good to leave it in primer, the primer's job is to absorb. If I lived in a nice dry region I would maybe consider it. The paint I used is stuff I had laying around that I was going to use for my old car - a guy gave it to me for free after I machined a part for him! So I'm in the job for nothing :P

:shock: these are illegal? A cop checked it out once and didn't say anything, driven by afew others Aswell - don't think I've drivin past any at night though.

But yeah I guess if they're illegal I'll put white ones on, maybe h4

Yep - illegal. Like the fake "blue-HID" lights - for Show or Off-Road use only.

Most police will simply give a fixit ticket or warning -
