sales pitch wrote: Install Ratio Rocker Arms: 1-2 hour installation time. If you can adjust valves, you can install these, but they MUST be used with shorter push rods. We have 3 different brands of quality 1.4 rockers to choose from; SCAT 1.4 Ratio Rocker Arms,Bugpack 1.4 Ratio Rocker Arms, and CB Performance 1.4 Ratio Rocker Arms are all outstanding on stock engines! We feel that 1.25 rockers give you almost no gain for your work; waste of effort. 1.25’s work well with some high performance cam shafts but you have to know what you’re doing! We feel that 1.25s and 1.3s have their place, but it’s normally when used WITH a matching camshaft. For stockish engines, any of the 1.4 Ratio Rocker Arms we carry will really wake up a stock dual port engine IF YOU HAVE ADDITIONAL CARBURETION (Carburetor Options are covered in just a bit!). |

I ran them on my 1679 with massaged heads and a stock cam, and they really made a noticeable difference.
I'd recommend them, just be sure to use lash caps, and I'd get some chromoly pushrods, since you'll probably have to shorten them to achieve workable rocker geometry. |

the discriptoin sounds great as does the price... I have 2 sets of them.....they needed a lot of work mine are about 6&9m years old. they were not heat treated, the foot was not square to the sahfts, the adjusters need the oil hole debured and the od also needed deburred. in addtion to that I also added a groove to the bushing and valve tip oiling hole. and then totaly deburred lightened polished and dfl coated them.one set has about 3000 miles and the other set over 70000 miles and work awesome.
now as to how there quality nowdays is... I dont have a clue. if you do get them be sure to check the tip squareness. mine were out up to about .020"....and it only about 7/16" wide so....thats way off. if you do not have the ability to rework the corectly there junk(unless they are a lot better than they were when I got them.) there are many that look identical, bugpoop, empi, khultech, gsc and more. if they have corredcted the issues they should be a great rocker. |

Suggestion - for a little more money, get the low end Scats instead of a no-name. I don't know the compatability with your cam and whether you will need custom length pushrods - research that part. But another option is getting rocker arms only and they are available to use with stock pushrods. So - talk to John at Aircooled or someplace like that to see what is the best match.
In general, stock heads are the restriction when you have improved your carbs and exhaust. Typically ratio rockers and/or performance cam will let everything work better so you will see an improvement. I wont do a dual carb and header unless the car owner is doing or planning on doing something with the heads. I have 2 1600 projects coming up - both getting dual Kads. One is a SP. so I am replacing his heads with ported mild performance heads and the other has good stock DP heads, so I am doing the rocker arms. |

They will add a few ponies from approx 2800 & up. you will loose a tad torque below 2800. In the 3000 to 3500 area you will "even out" and gain a hairswith and you will extend the curve about 200 - 250 rpm in the upper end.
Worth it (?) Depends on where you want your power.

The way you asked leads me to believe you're planning on just bolting them in place. Do you have the proper tools to set up geometry and rocker endfloat? If not, you won't notice any improvement. Might actually makes things worse. |

Id like to keep the bottom end torque that i have since its a baywindow westfalia, so if it wont help me in the low end much i will probably just keep my stock ones |

Explain further...Nevermind - found the answer. Intersting. Now gonna look and see how much of a difference it makes. I think I remember seeing dyno curves before and after.....If I find, I'll post. |
