This was on a 1964 Beetle my mother bought from its original owner - he purchased the car from Competition Motors. He gave us a copy of the original Purchase Order with his name and the dealership information. This frame is different from others I have seen, as well it has some unusual marks about 1/2 the way from top to bottom. It almost looks like 2 frame were joined together by some kind of crimping.

Interesting, I have never seen that one or even seen a listing for Competition Motors in Inglewood.

I have seen other frames with those center ribs on the sides though.

I would be interested in seeing the purchase order too.

Scored this rare front frame from Sanucci , Reseda Ca. dealership. I've seen a couple of rear's before but this is the first front one. EV should add this to the dealer/distributor listing so we all know front's exist for this dealership

this is the one you saw. :) I was happy to get it. It's not uber rare or desirable but it's definitely unique.

Try to make this short as possible. My best friend (since like age 5, we are 44) is the son of a former VW dealer. The old dealership, VW Audi Porsche, was located just outside Prestonsburg, Ky. opened about 1964 and shut down approximately 1978. The new Rabbit and loss of the bug just killed him - bankruptcy, whole nine yards. Anyway, my friend's dad passed several years back and we were talking about the old VWs and dealership. What I was wondering is if anY one had in their possession anything with the old dealership on it or photos of the place. Really just looking for some memories for my friend - maybe copies of photos, or something. Of course the big score would be an old deck lid / engine bay door with the dealership tag on it. If anyone could help. it would be much appreciated. Oh, The name on the Dealership was Vance. Palmer Vance. Not sure if it was Vance VW, Palmer Vance VW. Was not the Kelley Vance VW in Radcliff, Ky.

Not trying to make this a classified - looking more for info than anything else. I know its a long shot, but any help or leads would be appreciated.

Got this off the website. I have a friend who might have the frames. If he does I'll see if he'll give/sell/trade them

Want to trade... I have 2 Gardner VW frames, both of which are rears. I want to trade one for a Gardner front frame..
OR, will trade 1-4-1 for Brittsan VW frames...

This is my first venture into "Plate Frames"....

They are usually the first thing to come off of my cars.
But lately I have wanted one just for fun and this one found me at the swap meet last month.

The white back ground is also reflective.

How do you know if it is a front or a back?

When I worked for Kendall Ford, there was no distinction. What is the difference and why?

I've got an old metal Kendall on my Merc but I'd like to find a couple from Mock's since that's where it was purchased new.

Placement of the dealerships nameplate. The front frames will have the dealership name on top, city on the bottom.

Rear frames have the dealership on the bottom, city is placed on top.

Here's an example from my personal collection. This is from the Colome dealership located in Montebello, CA

This was NOT a common practice among all dealerships.

Hi I'm looking for a frame for Leroy Cannon Motors from Greenville South Carolina. I have the original bill of sale, service book and customer card from the car.
