Edit: I found the thread of AJs and damn that sucks. He seemed like a good guy and takes pride in his work but as the old saying goes, actions speak louder then words.

I wonder if he's gotten better since then? It has been a few years.

I believe he has. I always see him posting hiring ads for new positions, and him ordering more tooling and equipment. He's growing along with his business. It is my opinion that he took on more work than he could handle back then, and didn't know how to man-up to customers and tell them what was going on. Hence, all the late shipments/rushed, crappy work.

Taking on too much work at once is what happened to me too. I have personal experience w/ that. But crappy work should not go out.

I once took a machining job: 1000 pcs of billet venturis. I got the job done and all the parts were machined to the tight specifications -very small variations. But I won't do another batch even if I am told to take my time.

That is how the trouble starts is when you the builder is told you can take your time. There has to be a time-frame to get it out. I am not condoning what AJ did. He should have been upfront. But shit happens sometimes and it will set you back bigtime. There are some things out of your control.

So I stopped doing multiple engine builds. Back then I was doing the larger engines... 86mm... 88mm strokers. 411 mains. larger 4-inch seals.

It is nice to take a break from it. I am sorry to hear of AJ being banned from the site.

Sometimes, you will come in as a hero. But in the end, the inhabitants will crucify your ass.
