Greg, I had a Deep 6 in hand. Chopping "it" on the outside as far as possible will make "it" look like the pic above, don't you see that?

If you look at that pic, you can still see the weld by the outer rim. That must be machined down smooth for the bead to seal properly. That ledge must also be at least 3/4" wide to support the bead.
I just measured a wheel and it looks like you can only remove 1¼-1 3/8" in order to leave a 3/4" bead seat width.

I was hoping for a 6" wheel still.

If you want a 6" wheel that has the spokes that stick out, sent them some original 4½s. They can add 1½" on the inside. There's your 6" wheel, just like this:

FWIW I bought 2 deep 7's and 2 deep 6's fpr $4089 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...1&rd=1

3 of the wheels arrived today, 2 7's and 1 6.
I insured them for $2k a box so FedEx will be paying for a few more earlies I have my eyes on.

He knows this, and I'm sure knew it beforehand that's why he let me have them.

Those look like late style replicas. You can tell by how skinny the spokes get where they meet the center cap hole.
