I have to install that railing before I paint the gates on Funky Truck. The shoemaker's children have no shoes.
Front beam and transaxle numbers are February 1963. The engine is 1963 too. If this is a numbers matching bus maybe I should restore it.
Got a little creative to pull out the axle bearings.
Cleaning and arranging parts to go back in this order. Amazing that such beautiful parts are hidden in such an ugly bus.
No wonder all these internal parts are so good. It has only 24 thousand miles on it.
I'll bet the engine runs too.

Looks like the staircase has no railing?
Sorry, that's not up to code. :)
I've got a call into the city code enforcement office to report it.
Kurt, you're welcome..

As a fellow nail bender, I can commiserate with this statement. The to-do list at my house is long.

If you promise to keep building buses and posting it in here, we promise to keep coming back for more. |

^^^Something John Jones at KCW is working on with a former employee now working in Denver. An Idea for some lift through a triple RGB. One plus would be getting rid of the stink bug lift when starting in 1st.
I don't know what the current status is. I talked with John at BBB. He seemed uninterested in the project at that time. Time will tell. |

When you get a chance, could you post a macro of the bellhousing build date casting?

Ironically you would roll your diff as a Beetle though. |

Transaxle is still in the bus and surrounded by flood water. Where do I look for the "build date casting"?
Blasted one RGB clean. Introducing our new mascot "Wrecks".
M code plate for the record.

Hey Kurt!
Nice Splitwindow again!
Why do you don`t restore the Samba? to easy? to mainstream?
Anyway i like this Thread and your work on a crusty Splitwindow again.
I buy a new Semaphore Projekt Bus too some Days ago, thinking to start a Tread about maybe...

Got that right. Go to a show, one would think that sambas were common. I restored that one almost 24 years ago. It did not need much metalwork. This panelvan is a challenge. Swapping a roof, how hard can it be? Truth be told I will probably be driving the samba before the panelvan. No shortage of hobbies. Handrail on steps... Funky Truck gates... Hang gliding... Editing videos... Photography... woodworking... Lemons racing... Scale model building...
Life is too short. Wake up in the morning and do what moves you.

The fact that you had... readily available... tin snips small enough to fit a miniature T. rex hand is mild boggling. |
