BarryL wrote: That has front and rear power units with regenerative braking and charging right (without rereading)?
This version has a single rear motor and is limited to *just* ~300HP
The dual motor version is being developed in the far east... it has a bespoke chassis to handle ~1000HP in it's most extreme version
All the vehicles have regenerative braking, single/three phase AC charging and rapid DC charging. |

Lots electric car posts are being deleted and i'm not going to bother with this forum any more. Feel free to follow our progress on the Open Inverter forum;

This member posted "electric car" videos all over the site that had nothing to do with the actual thread topic at hand or VWs.
It got reported by members... A LOT.
You can post about your Bus here - that is fine.
Nothing was removed from this thread and I don't believe anything was removed that was VW-related. |

Awesome build, Kevin.
Building something similar myself. The SDU can provide max 243lb*ft torque, can these handle that? What about the rest of the rear driveshaft? |

I wondered why I hadn't seen this thread for so long. But I did notice all the unrelated posts/links which seemed to be an effort to convince this community that electric was superior (or, at least, desirable). After all, there's been a fair amount of bickering and negative feedback shunning the technology. Safe to say, this is the wrong crowd, for the most part.

If electric had the range, I might be swayed. |

Vw bus has a range of about 250 miles. Electric can totally do that.
Personally i prefer the mechanical simplicity of the aircooled vw though |

| In my (very) younger days, mid to late 70s, when the energy crisis was in full swing i read all I could about those early elec cars. Then I figured why use batteries when you could just generate your own electricity in the car. Why not put a steam engine in it and let the steam engine generate electricity turning a generator. Which evolved in to using a stem turbine. I couldn't find anyone to sell me any plutonium to power my steam turbine. Maybe now with Amozon? |

to me range should not be an issue,,,but charging time and cost is.
When a full charge can be done in 3 minutes then we are talking. Before that... is just a bad joke. |

Can these electric VW Bus or Bug conversions do 250? I'm not talking about all the rest, those go without saying. |

from page 3:
If we decide to fit just 10 of the 16 [Tesla] modules I predict the bus range will be ~180 miles. |
