I don't see many posts on this, and what I see don't all agree. There are several surfaces that could be lubed before the engine goes in.
Pilot bearing
Clutch splines
Face of the throwout bearing
Flywheel ring gear
Other?
I've never read up on this or thought about it, it was hand-me-down knowledge to grease the pilot bearing, graphite the clutch splines and very lightly the face of the throwout bearing. I've been the Electric Vehicle guy so long I can't even remember what I did with the flywheel ring teeth. I'm ready for the "final" install (final before first drive) and was wondering, what is the current best practice? It isn't electric now so the flywheel ring gear teeth is in question too. |

There is a pink grease Exedy includes with their clutch kits.(tiny 5cc pack)
It's my fave for clutch spline/hub lube.
One day I will find a jumbo tube of it & then be very happy.
Bel Ray salt water proof grease for the pilot bearing / tube surface.
I put nothing on the pilot bearing surface to clutch fingers. Dry. |

| High temp synthetic caliper grease is good for anything you want to lube there, available at any FLAPS. Be very stingy, a pea's worth is enough to do it all. |

| I am guessing based on some of these answers that I can use a good moly on my flywheel and the center of my gland nut? |
