I got the T1 in color here in autumn and it looks like this now. Sinse then I got the engine in, and the electrics are almost complete. I still have to mount the fuel line and then I can try to start it I gues that will be in a few weeks when I next get to the garage.

Yes I did its not perfect and I will let a profecional do it later again but it is definitively good enough for now but it is not show class so It will be re done in a few years. But I need to get it ready now and I did not find a good enough painter in my budjet now so I painted it my self. |

This started today and moved under own power 10cm front and back under own power all gears seem to be there and the only issue was that the crank pulley seem to be rubbing the engine thin slightly on the left side on the engine blocks side. |

I suspect I have to open the bots on the thin ware and move it arund a bit and re thighten or then take a bit of the sheetmeta and paint the grinding spot. The sheetmetal is from an other engine so that could be it or itsjust slightly bent or something. |

I drow this the first time with temporary numberplates for a fewbkilomeeters. It seems to run nice the portals w7ne a bit but I gues thet is to be excpected as the gears are straight cut afte all. The breaks squik a bit Ihope itvwill stop when I get a few Kilomeeter more will be driving it 100 km on monday to the oldtimer sertification so that should sort it if not then I gue I have to open them and see whats wrong everythng is new so it must be a spring rubbing or something. The rear ride hight is a bithigh but will drive it first a bit more as they tend to drop during the first weeksof use.

From öettinger website:
"Oettinger also made diesel vans fast
After all, a VW bus, after all, primarily serves the purpose of a transporter. And if it also needed to be particularly economical, customers of the time often opted for the 1.6-liter turbodiesel with 70 hp. But that didn't exactly pull the wool over their eyes. The VW Bus Oettinger 1600 TD soon provided a solution. An intercooler, increased maximum boost pressure (from 0.7 bar to 0.8 bar), and a modified injection pump – and 90 hp was achieved." |

Yes but the boost was Riced from 0.6-0.7 to 0.8-0.9 most where 0.9. The main added benefit was beside the 30% Power increase the fact that the engine had a smaller head temp due to the intercooler and hench the engine was also not that prone for cracking the cylinderhead.
And the orginal power was actually 69hp.
The thing with this van is that it is factory tuned and orginal. From power it does not hold a candel to my everyday Tdi ALH converted syncro with its 150 diesel hp. The Tdi can easy make more power but the gearbox on a syncro can handel only 150hp Diesel or 200 Hp gasoline due to the torque.
But 150hp for a syncro is plenty and the 90 that the oettinger makes is enough to keep up with regular trafic nicely. |

No sorry I don't. That info was passed on to me as well with nothing to back it up.
20 something years ago I got the LDA cone brochure from Oettinger from that same friend, for the Golf 2. I prefer these injection pumps. Funnily the drawing scan still floating around on the internet was from me  |
