I installed a sliding centrr window on my ALH syncro. I bought it from JK and I also bought the ventilation grill for it. The setup was resonable in price, so for the money its fine.
Just a few notes on the quality.
1. The water drainng holes have a thin and pretty soft strip of metal acros them wich bends realy easily.
2. The lockng tab ist from plastich and do not induse seriouse confidens but it works
3. The ventilation gril is a bit tight on the height and a bit short in the length This results in it most likely scraping the paint from the frame in the long run becaus it is thight and the locking in place on the other hand is so and so as it is on the short side.

Where do you store the vent grill when it's not in the window?

Team WorldTour Sun May 10, 2020 7:21 am

I tuck mine in a kitchen cabinet. It flows with the seasons. When I need the vents, I also have space to pack something in the cabinets....

OP- I have an EU market, JX original syncro. I am also having issues fitting the turbo cooler pipe. At the moment, I have it bouncing about in my parts box, waiting to be mounted. In the meantime, I have a hose zip-tied to the block, so it can blow air on the turbo, as needed.

The explanation I got for the system was for supplemental cooling. Eg, engine at idle for several hours, or when driving overland, it is triggered by the sensor on the end of the head (same as the water pump). So, when off-roading\ crawling, the D column vent doesn't get enough positive air flow (DON'T START WITH IT, THERE IS AN AIRFLOW THREAD ALREADY!), and the fan kicks on, cooling the system down. The shape of MY skid-plate lends itself to this theory, as it has rear-facing louvers directly under the turbo. At highway speeds, it lends itself to the theory of pulling low pressure air out of the engine bay. At low speeds then, it allows the forced-air of the turbo cooler an outlet.

If you have links to the Ă–tinger instructions and\or the intercooler?

I have I behind my drivers seat.

Osku Tue May 12, 2020 10:53 am

By the way the sliding window was installed o n my ALH 1.9TDi the one behind in the picture The Oetinger IC is the one closer to the pucture just as all three of my syncros are white its ocasionally hard to tell them apart.
So TDi is with sliding window and Bed
Oetinger IC is with 9 seats and sun roof.
Regular JX is just as a Van no seats no bed but sunroof also.(This one is not in the picture)

I drilled the pilot hole for the pedalbox today on my kitcar, I'm wondering if If I should reinforce the hole straight as it goes now. The issue is that it wull ear some of the wall of the frame, but with thick enough pipe it should not be an issue. I could also move it slughtly ti the center but It's so and so can I move it enough for it to maje a difference. I think I will sleep on this priblem anf morgen I'll deside what to do.
I know its not a van but I can not be bothered to make a separate topic for it.

The pedalbox I bought for this project isa Girling setup.

Osku Thu May 14, 2020 9:11 pm

This is where we stand on the breaks on the kitcar.
It looks like it fits. Its just tcked in place snd still lisses some supports but I can already say this will work fine.

This thing needs a lot of cleaning and repainting still. I will come to that before the final assembly witch is still some time in the future.

Osku Fri May 15, 2020 7:25 am

The welding is done on this break pedalbox.
Next I get back to my van's
This car will take still a lot of work later but done for now.

Osku Sun May 17, 2020 5:19 am

Now the old front assembly is out

4Gears4Tires Sun May 17, 2020 8:04 am

You lowered it all down on jacks?

Osku Sun May 17, 2020 10:04 am

Yes I had two florjacks one in the rear and one in front and when everything was lose then I gently droped it down.

Osku Sat Jun 13, 2020 7:29 am

Now that I have been driving the ALH syncro with the slidng window in warm wetter and hench open, I'm positively supriced about the fact that it redused the wind noice but still circulated the air.

Team WorldTour Sun Jun 14, 2020 11:03 am

Did you ever come to a conclusion with the 'Charge Air Cooler'?
I am getting my engine back together, and I'm at the point where it's do/ not install the pipe.
I would really like to get it in correctly!

Looking at your pictures and at mine, I see your pipe is different.

Osku Wed Jun 17, 2020 10:53 pm

I hqte the fact that no one seel to know how it should be fixed but som of the puctures I have seen are with two L shaped brackets wich part number I do not have so I will fabricate two of them as if no one can say how the should be no one will correct me on the bracket either.
Yes, yoy have a different pioe I think it is older, could be wrong on that one. Any way there is two types one that needs the rubber fitting the one you have and the other that don't that I have where they made the metal pipe the size that it fits directly to the feed hose.
