I've always been of the understanding that an engine with correct clearances and good oil system runs on a film of oil and not technically on the bearing surfaces, so get the clearances and oil system right and you should be fine.
That's just my understanding; we drove an oil depleted VW engine for over 3 years with a terrible #2 main bearing and never had any knocking or additional damage. Upon eventual rebuild, machine shop didn't even need to regrind the crankshaft. |

Those cb bearings are for using a flanged crankshaft. Not a standard vw type. |

The best is the bearing that is the correct size with the correct clearance and it must expands and contracts at the proper rate to the other components.
There's really not much to it, we are talking plain bearings, the whole idea is support them with pressurized oil. |

as said, one that has the correct clearances and is wthin spec, which depends on the rod itself and the crank journal. mahle rods are pretty good. |

Brazilian made Mahle for everything.
KS usually makes good quality parts, but they are producing some cam bearings single thrust and also with very fragile material, that is easy to spin in the case housing. |
