Ah, got it.

Most farm tractors have steering or split brakes. Usually they have a dual pedal assembly with a bar that locks them together for road travel. If you're using them at low (crawling) speed they would probably be fine. I would be worried about rollover in a bus at any speed much over 10 or 15 mph.

I think that 64-70 brakes if i switch the backing plates and drill them out it should fit.

Use mid 64 and later front and rear axles and the brakes will fit...

Sounds like you are trying to make it more complicated.
Just use the 3/4 ton (55-62) brakes if it has 3/4 ton spindles and 3/4 ton RGBs.
In good order, they work great.

pic of brakes or axle nuts to confirm which version it has? Parts can get swapped out over the years.

FWIW, on running old engines that sat for ages, IME it is good to change the oil frequently until it stays clean. It gets dirty real quick. So check it every time you drive it, and short trips are good until the insides stays clean. Buy a case of cheap oil.

For real. Sometimes I wish I had the time and dough to go pick up cheaper shit that doesn't have titles because I don't even need a title for something 35 years old or older.

I got the engine running next step is fix the rust or weld metal in.. anywaise what kind of welder should i use to weld this bad bay back to running shape..

so far crapi china tire has its mastercrap 80 amp mig welder on sale for $250 half price the welder is $500 normally

or i could get a lincoln 140 mig welder but its $800

or does anyone want to come over and weld a few parts in I can pay in bbq and beers..and it should be fun/

Eastwood has a 135 amp 110 volt mig for $300. I bought a used one about 4 years ago, not the best welder I've ever used, but it's the better than any flux-core only machine I've used. Works fine for thinner sheet metal, struggles to get to its 3/16 rating. Requires a 20 amp breaker to run.

lucked out found a matching rear hatch locally looks like correct matching paint

hatch was from up in new market someone had it in the garage for years after they went with there dad to check out some 15-20 vdub years ago or so they told me..

I would just keep all the brakes stock and use what you can. Brakes are not something thats that expensive and you may be able to save some parts unless all your backing plates are rusted away and gone. I have bought almost all my brake stuff online and its well worth knowing that you can stop especially with a good emergency brake.

What is the best way to take the rear cargo floor out? To weld in some new frame parts

Is there any preference for steel for the frame? I am kinda on a tight budget for this bus should i go with cheaper panels or more expensive or make them myself?

You can get most brake parts thru rock auto or Cip1 for around 250 bucks. As far as metal it’s all personal preference and what you can get in a budget. To remove the cargo floor you just need a good grinder and a face shield and get to grinding spot welds.

Take the rear hatch off. Put it on bench and install window. Reinstall hatch.

Prop the hatch open,set your peice of glass with the seal ,rope/cord in place.
Reach your arm around and hold the glass down while you pull the rope with other hand...pretty simple.

just got the jack points in the mail for left side..in less than 4 days man thats quick.
slowly picking stuff up..

jack points appear to be decent quality the ones on my bay are the same company and they were perfect curious to see if its the same quality or better.
