today spent the day getting all the leaves and crap out of the front storage tool box and nose..
Then put a couple cross braces in where the non-existant floor was i guess they may qualify as the floor.
added a brace to the lower front and previouosly i cut the lower bulkhead to gain access to where I am gonna do some frame repairs..
bought new crossmember for here
the lack of floor it was so rusted i lifted the mat and it all deterioted rt there into dust.. yay floor dust.. and the shifter it fell off by hand with some grinder convincing..
its a neat piece of lawn art[/img] |

I know this is going to sound harsh and I love your enthusiasm so I don't want to extinguish it. My purpose here is simply a reality check based on years of experience.
What you want to do requires far greater skills and experience than what you have, or a kind local mentor to teach you as you go. It requires a semi-heated shop with a clean solid floor, and at least some heat. You will need proper welding equipment, and that means no flux core. Additionally you will need many tens of thousands of dollars. Without those, you will not finish and worse, you probably will do a bunch of damage to the bus that somebody else will have to undo.
Can you put this project somewhere out of the weather until you have the knowledge, funds, facilities and experience to be successful? |

step 1: clean the metal you want to weld. trim back to solid metal. not rusty, painted, tissue paper thin gunk you want to try to weld thicker metal to.
step 1.5: practice welding (welder settings, spped of moving the torch, etc) on similar thickness metals to the thicknesses you want to actually weld - metal that is not part of the bus. this means using the metal thickness and appropriate wire speed chart on the welder to get approximate starting settings and adjust from there. the finished product is not the place to be practicing.
step 2: make sure your ground is on a solid, shiny metal area, close to the area you want to weld.
here are a couple videos i found on the tube of you, with a very simple 'basic mig welding techniques' search. i'm sure you can find plenty more by doing your own searching.

also, if available, taking a welding class at a local community college would help a lot. |

I don't know if I missed it...but what are you welding with - I'm assuming a 110v mig welder?
Machine make and model?
Flux or Gas Shielded?
Machine settings : voltage, wire speed and if gas shielded Regulator settings?
Welding wire size and make? |
