Home grown breather box or catch can. I would remove it...seems to be a sealed unit. No way for it to "breathe" except BACK thru the motor. Nice restaurant tubing though. |

Thanks, that’s what I thought too. The 2 tubes lead to where the second pic is. Attaching the motor view also

| Must be a "catch can" type thing. Note the two elbow fittings with clear tube between which is used to be able to see the oil level (whether it needs to be emptied.) |

| I'm guessing you don't have to pass smog tests where you live. Therefore I'd just use a road draft tube through a hole next to the dipstick......... unless you have some major blow-by. |

^^^This right here!^^^
The builder of that catch can did put a drain plug on it so it can be emptied but truly, the way it is plumbed in there is zero air flow through it anyway. All the mist and vapor is going right up into that right carb and making a mess of it. I agree with the above poster, take it all out and go back to the road draught tube.
The second option if you really think you need it and this would be more proper, would be to block off the air cleaner portion and the top oil filler one too, then re- route it with a proper PCV valve to the balance tube fitting on the intake manifold below the carb. That would get you some flow through the system without messing up that carb. |
