Picked up a never used rare Type 4 mag crankcase, and I'd thought I'd leave pics here so you could pick-out details that were particular to only this version.
Some things I noticed:
Webbing differences
Distributor clamp mounting area differences
Lower bosses for engine mounts protrude farther
Oil filler flange smaller and clocked differently
Additional dipstick portion
Crankcase vent up near breather tower
Linkage mount stands taller
Uses four shorter through-bolts, and two longer ones in the centers
No windage tray provisions
Slots above/below main saddles - crankcase ventilation aid?

Is it for Porsche 912/914 perhaps? :) |

all the AS41 type 4 cases I've seen were from either very early 411s or industrial engines, I don't think they made their way into 914s
It looks like the date code indicates the case is from december 1969 if I'm not mistaken |

Mag cases were 1968 only VW 411. In ‘69 they switched to die cast aluminum, which was the same year the 914 was introduced. |

Vanapplebomb is correct
These are BEFORE 914. Early, early 411.
The slots above the mains are also on later 411 and into early 412....or at least the rear most main. Have to look at my cases. I have only seen one or two and never up closs......just sitting on a shelf in a collection
It "looks" like the fins are deeper on the bottom of the case outside.....and it also lo9ks like the webbing behind the flywheel has a bit in common with a type 1 case. Same in the distributor mount areaa.
A few people who knew a lot more ahout these cases...Jake Raby and others....spoke at about them in useful detail on the STF a while back.
