His principles have resulted in a lot of people being employed, that can be good. I am no fan of electric cars, but that more has to do with mandates, subsidies and taking away my choice of a gasoline car. If an electric car works for you, fine.
His space stuff is interesting, but I think it is somewhat of a waste of money, but if it is his money, oh well. I think colonizing Mars is nutty, but if he pays for it, well ok.
I am sure glad some people have near totally eliminated greed and power from their lives. Mother Teresa comes pretty close to that goal.
Recall the founder of VW, Dr Porsche was a fan of hitler, he and his family became powerful and rich, his factories employed slave labor. Kind of makes Elon look like a saint in comparison  |

It’s great that you work or worked in the microprocessor or some form of technology industries that you made a nice living.
Same problems different era. Still not fixed.

his principals have gutted good people and replaced them with boot lickers. That dude hasn't worked near as hard as anyone on his "team" ever. And to expect people to sleep in hallways because 'you do' is bullshit.
no doubt he's an interesting guy but the 'kiss the ring' bullshit has got to end. |

Well he is perhaps a good organizer to get things done. People like that are important.
Much like a General, they lead, but you wont find them acting like a foot soldier clearing a mine field. Each has its place. I and others have spent many all nighters at work, 30 hours days at work with a quick nap on the floor next to the desk, weekends, on call 24 / 7. We get things done, we have kept the factory running, got the products out, met the deadlines, completed the research, got the machines running again.
I can assure you that the folks that put in these kinds of hours can find other more comfortable work if that is what they desire.
I bet if you needed an emergency surgery, you'd hope to get a doctor to stay late and take care of you after 5pm on a Friday, rather than wait until 8 am the following Monday, or that power line worker that gets your power restored at 2 am, despite having been at work 18 hours already that day ( specially if you need to charge your electric car 8) ) |

It’s gross that a VW forum got all nasty and weird. I would still offer help to a fellow traveler on The Samba. Or other travel I have a connection with.
I’m out………….and deleting my stupid posts, (if Everett and Jenn allow)irrelevant posts over the years.
I have bros who are conservative and liberal that i physically hang with. We all camp out often.
This bullshit is why I never had mainstream social media. Be well and fun with your VW. |

Uhh, its those government subsidies that are employing Tesla people, no? Employing a lot of people doesn't necessarily make you a good Person. Ask Henry Ford.
Space X has gotten 38 billion from the Government in the last decade in loans subsidies and contracts. |

Xevin, we can stay on topic and sane in the regular VW Forms (eg Bay Window, Vanagon, etc) but in the Off Topic section, it's a place to agree, to disagree.
It keeps the moderators busier though. Thank you Moderators for putting up with us when we wander ... |

He may or may not be a good person, but many good jobs are good.
Seems he was liked by many, then he took on government waste and made a lot of enemies, accused of nazi saluting. crazy world.
Ford did a lot of good in regards to mechanising our nation, brought mobility to millions, his factories helped win WW2. Was he a bad person? maybe, maybe not.
Let god sort it out. |

and what is going on in the WH now is amazing and terrifying all at once. I agree with a lot they are doing but taking the humanity out of it is just straight evil, and villainizing the workers is the most asinine thing ever. It's not their fault they got hired for fucks sake.
IMHO they are going after the wrong fucking people. Yea, I get the Gov't needs a diet for sure but this is wild shit. |

Not all workers have been villainized, but some are worthy of it. some time fat needs to be trimmed, even good fat. humanity and stopping an evil from happening to our future generations requires trimming a lot, an awful lot. Doing so is not an evil. Have you any idea how much hatred our tax debt enslaved grand kids will have for us? It be like your Dad and Mom putting their credit debt on you and your kids. Doing that lacks humanity and is I think evil. Debt is around $100,000 per every person in the nation, even newborns.
Let's us how this pans out. I have been laid off at many a company, it aint fun, I was not a villain, nor did allow myself to be called a victim. I didnt consider it an evil act either.
Either we cut, or we have to massively increase taxes, add tariffs, tax the air we breath, the water we drink, the food we eat. ( Or enslave our great great grand kids to debt also, many many more generations hence). We have lived too long on our grandkids credit, there has to be some pain, but in the not so long term it will be good over all.
We can NOT continue down the same path anymore. It is unsustainable.
I sure as heck do not live beyond my means, and even if I did, I am not going to pass my debt on to the next generation.
How will they be able to afford a car be it gas or electric when born into such non stop generational debt?
I assume you live within your means. That is good living. |

When you're fucking with people's retirement that they worked for, stayed with the organization etc just to have it pulled is fucking wrong and I don't care what side you're on...it's wrong. They signed up for a deal, took lower pay (average pay is about 100k/year, far less than private sector jobs) and stuck it out.
It's like when people blame the "boomers" for "stealing all the wealth"
They got a job, stayed for 30 years, saved, had a pension and by and large lived a very modest lifestyle being a product of the Great Depression. These people bought used, lived a comfortable yet modest life and are getting blamed by a bunch of sniveling twats that have zero work ethic and refuse to "climb the ladder" and expect everything to be handed to them on a sliver platter that they "stole the wealth"
and I don't buy the debt bullshit either. it's there.... no doubt but somehow, I should be paying for my great grandparent's 'debt' somehow.
again, they are going about the whole thing wrong...the probies...I get, I also get consolidating stuff
but until they go after people higher up the chain, it's all bullshit because once this admin is out, another will come back and back fill all of these positions.
and laying off 200k+ people is going to fucking c-r-a-s-h the economy. I don't think the private sector can handle a glut of workers like that. these people have mortgages and car payments....mark my words you're going to see a bunch of defaulted loans and guess whos is gonna buy up the houses? |
