I looking for recommendation of builds for my split. I currently have a stock 1600 SP that is getting tired. I'm considering, but not locked into, a 1776 and nothing bigger as I do not want to have trans problems and am not is a big rush to get anywhere. Just looking for a little more power when climbing grades. I live at sea level and am in moderate climate (Salinas Ca.)
I looking for cam suggestions. Duel carbs vs a single. That type of stuff.
Thanks for the help,
Brian

My favorite simple small bus engine....Works great, easy to build and durable.
Stock crank and rods rebuilt
Stock case, line bored, decked, case savers, etc....
AA 92mm Thick Wall P&C set. Grant cast rings
cb2239, or w100 cam
stock rockers on solid shafts. Stock adjuster screws.
new aa500 35x32 heads, blend the bowls, good 3 angle valve job.
china 40mm IDF's with CB offset manifolds and linkage kit. Or kads if you already own them.
stock pushrods cut down
stock flywheel 8 doweled
CB Magnaspark ign kit
V.Speed bus muffler.
Stock heater boxes
It's a 1835cc instead of a 1776. Its not gonna be any harder on parts unless YOU are careless with it. More displacement the better in a bus.
You also gain the super thick 92mm cylinders that will run cooler and last longer in a bus.
Great running engines.
You should also add an external oil cooler to ANY bus with a larger than stock engine, or anything trying to drive more than 55mph.

I wouild definitely go with a modified SVDA distributor, especially in a split bus.
Apart from that, no beef.
Cams can be an issue right now. Another option is the Nowak 40 cam. |

I'm on board with an 1835 with thick wall AA 92mm P & Cs.
I like Engle FK41 and FK42 cams. As mentioned we build with what we can get right now and we can't always get what we want.
The FK41 makes good power down low. It works well in low compression engines.
