Meanwhile, replaced the wheel bearings and found someone who had a reamer for the link pins.

This weekend I will try to assemble everything further

measering the offset

Did some more work on the beetle on this holiday.

The spindles are on the car with new linkpins and kingpins.
I also replaced the speedometer cable, doesn't cost much money.

Everything is lubricated with the corect grease.

After installing the wheels I did notice that the alignment is no longer correct!
So I need to adjust the track rod on the right side to the correct length.
Therefore I am thinking of ordering new ones right away.

As for the height, I would like it even lower...
Smaller too...
But in our country it will be rejected for the technical inspection.

At this moment I am satisfied with all the work.
If something is wrong we will see it when it breaks hahaha

Next? Vintage speed exhaust maybe

2 more pictures
I personally think it was successful.
Widened steel would not look bad at the back
and then paint the rims in beige

Wily Thu Nov 03, 2022 5:49 am

Beige could be nice for widened steel 8)

This plate should have one tab bent over the outer nut, and the other bent over the inner nut. The way you have it, the inner nut could still thread tighter and cook the bearings. You want to tighten the nuts against each other, and use the locking plate to hold each nut in place.

opted for swan neck mirrors after all.
maybe not the best to see anything but i just like them!
Some pictures how to mount them

So you cut that section of the trim for the mirror bolt. Does the rest of the mirror go over, on top of the rest of the trim? And the bug looks awesome! Is that original paint?

Yes indeed,
There is a cutout in the mirror that goes over the trim

Nice progress!

I prefer Fuchs with Porsche pattern but it that case you would neew adaptor or front conversion to disc brakes.

True that!
i already sold the wheels, not my cup of tea

Now rolling in front all original and in the back 6 wide (waiting for my order)
Then paint them in black or beige with white whalls :D

But another front beam and bad ass wheels wont take much time to buy

Wily Thu Nov 17, 2022 5:15 am

So I bought smoothies for the back. Yup I'm still going to paint these along with the front ones
6 inches wide with new wolfsburg lids.
Tires will be 195/70/15 since I have the original high 5.6 tires up front.

I am already looking at putting a narrower and lower front axle though.
A 1959 is no gift though! Because you have to have a special axle! The shock towers come against the body when narrowing with regular "china" axles

Very nice bug!!! 8)

Question: you seem to have a 3in1 gauge in your dashboard, where did that come from?
