Some progress again with the electrical works
(nope not my place, i wish! its from a friend...

This was a 59 beetle but now a bare chicken
everything is open to nicely tuck away the airride wiring.
Cables gauges, compressor and tank..

Replaced all bulbs with 12v ones and men headlight pots are surprisingly bone hard

The carburetor is open to renew all gaskets.
As also every nozzle 5 sizes larger for the vintage speed exhaust!

Turning the motor 12v with Bosh parts ;)

Since the electricity was a mess everything is getting an UPGRADE.
here is a picture with relays for the lighting switches

-4 narrowed and equipped with bearings.
Also adapted for a steering damper

Hoppah! Fresh and clean is how we do it

Found a perfect oval valve after a long search. All edges and the metal is perfect, 0.0 work to do

also found a NOS vw emblem for oval (so also 58/59)

Used emblem, but wil change the logo for a new one

Nos handle for the boot lid

bargain done for headlamp grilles

and a nice box that can serve as a refrigerator or for cleaning products? Oil.. anything
Was a bargain, 10 euros

Started sanding the hood
Do a little further every Tuesday evening :-)

Very hard hood for a 1955!
I chose not to prime it.
It seems more fun to keep the small imperfections, the beetle is not perfect either.

Next week further sanding around the parts that have been derusted.
Then weld 1 small crack

Wily Thu Jan 12, 2023 2:31 pm

Preparing everything to install the front axle.
also the rear suspension plates and then the airride

Wily Sat Jan 14, 2023 10:29 am

Before I continue with the hood, I'll try it on first.. And YES! she fits.
Now sand further and then paint

Instead of 1 gaugewith 2 needles, there will be 2 separate gauges for the airride.
These are also just in

Remove the back to insert new (adapted, lower) plates.
I will have the brackets for the air next week and then put in new bushes

hupla rims to use for the time being until I have my 3 piece 17ers.
Can then be used for winter storage or if the works in the street are disappointing, they can stay on for a year

Nice car. Looks like you are having a lot of fun with it.

Wily Sun Jan 22, 2023 9:38 am

Sorry for the bad pictures but we don't always have a mobile phone with a good camera, I'll make new ones

-4 axle is in it and the old exhaust is removed, which was replaced by an extremely low Vintage speed 8)

I'm a bit stuck in the back because I'm waiting for new brackets for the airshocks.
Currently I have one for another type of beetle so new ones are on their way

Wily Wed Jan 25, 2023 12:57 pm

Did some little work on the front hood.
Inside also sanded and then treated both sides with rust converter.
next sanding lightly matte finish and then primer on it.

Yesterday also put tires on my winter wheels

Wily Fri Jan 27, 2023 3:21 pm

The promised better pictures are here + update on the exhaust 8)

The new narrowed with skidplate.
Opted for a subtle narrowing of -4"

Bracket for the front airshocks

Conversion to 12V progresses piece by piece

And the exhaust that i really wanted
Vintage speed extreme lowered 8)

An image of the front narrowing of the front axle
