Hey Guys ,

While I've got the engine out of my bug so I was considering replacing the giant chrome alternator with this product from the UK I thought it would give a more stock appearance.

Does anyone have any experience with this Dynamator, or the Tudor company?
It only puts out 45 amps but I think I can live with that.

Thanks

So it's a alternator that looks like a generator?

OK it that's important to you.

I've been browsing these recently.

One appears to be a 12V 90mm version (i.e. a more practical and cost-effective alternative to using a Porsche 356/912 generator to convert a 36hp engine to 12V).

guess the 6v diameter one would be a good way to do a 12v conversion on a 36 that doesnt have a replaceable generator stand...probably a lot easier than trying to find a 67 912 unit...kinda cool that it looks stock...but no never saw one before so no clue if its a pos

Can you link to the 90mm version? I just looked at the list and only found replacements for 12v generators.

No specs on output current or anything?

Hmmm.

I did correspond through their chat window and they answered my questions about output and original hardware.

Output is 45 amps, and it uses the original generator stand.
I've been told that the 6 volt and the 12 volt stands are the same.

I'm just trying to get a more original look for my engine. The alternator on my bus doesn't look out of place, but all I can see when I open the engine compartment on the bug is that giant alternator. Maybe because it's chrome.

Looking at this company as well, so please let me know what your experiences were.

6V and 12V stands are not the same

What they probably meant is that their 12v 90mm dynamator fits on a 6V stand.
