Thanks Jimbo, again and again you ask and you will receive.

Thanks

I got the backing plates, drums, cables all done and now test fitting body on chassis before paint correction.

I even got show off the OG stamping before it's completely gone.

Now onto the rear.

Took the wheels after paint to my old stomping grounds, Zims Autotechnik, to mount my wheels, tubes, and tires and then balance them. Their shop always has some 356 inspirations, but they are all late models to me.

Got them home and ready to bolt up.

And now for the body onto chassis for test fit.

Nice you’re making fast progress, must be so much fun. What the plans for the paint? I guess the primer is where the OG has left the party?

Thank you, and it has been a blast of fun and headache.
The plan for paint is a tricky one, as I am trying to blend to what is real, but there are sections that have been tampered with. So I plan on trying to blend and then maybe a semi-gloss or matte clear to tie everything together. I like a correctly painted car without the fake patina, so I will do my best to not have that happen.

I googled the reg when you first posted and found this picture. Someone really messed with the paint. Did they fauxtina over the OG red?

Yes and it's funny because it doesn't take much to do it right but someone felt the need to. Thanks for the picture.

I'm in the final stages of metalwork, so here is a BBT fender that did not really fit so good, so I had to cut and fill material to get it corrected.

Had to fab a couple of pieces for this fender.

Got it done but it's not a beauty queen but I will add some more metal in the low spots to help to use less filler.

Im happy with the alignment even though the apron is a little rough.

Note to BBT: Passenger side fenders do not have a complete horn grill cut away.

Cleaned it up and made sure it's all flush.

It turned out good. Now I can get on the driver side fender repair.

Welded it from the top, now its all good except for the big ass rust hole next to it.

Here is the super thick undercoating BS that whoever put on this beautiful hood deserves a solid kick to the nuts!

Wait, scrap,

This is some nasty SH :!: T

Better

Another gallon for this devil skin!

Finally, after a couple of days back to normal and ready for paint.

I wanted a radio for this car, and I have a Hirschmann antenna and didn't want to cross the brands like Adidas shorts with Nike shoes type thing so no Telefunken radio, plus having the OG clock.  I wanted something correct for the era and found a killer deal with this 1949 Philco 6V Radio loaded with hornets nests. Then I removed all the internals and saved them for a person needing them, then mocked up the new digital Bluetooth with a modern 4" 50W speaker. I also got the OG light working and will be added to the light switch of the car. Click on the link to see it in action.

:D :D :D :D

Sounds great and stoked on how it turned out.

Thanks Jimbo & Frank!

Jimbo, I am waiting on the painter for paint correction which we could be in less than two weeks. I'm hoping I get the call to bring it as soon as possible so we will see.

Frank, I hope to have it at something in So Cal this year (RVA, VW Revival show.)

If you come out to California and have that in a show, please let me know! I wanna go see it! That is worth a drive out of my bubble!

Jimbo, for sure I will let my samba family know so people get a chance to check it out in person.

Well I finally got to install the NOS HUF steering lock and it was a little tricky to get it dialed in but I am really pleased on how it turned out.

OG from Germany and as pretty as they come.

I recommend to test fit everything outside of the car to make it as easy as possible and a lot quicker. Ask me how I know.
