I rode around while making my calls looking for the elusive "buss bar" to run my grounds to. I did not find it. Wish me luck today!!!! And you??? Oh I also ordered a new fan belt and a longer crank bolt for the sand seal pulley. Another 20 dollar bill ...POOF!!!!

my L488 turn signals came in yesterday.

and got the taxes done- so i have loads more money to buy parts with now! :D

Ahhh, loads of money. Nothing wrong with that.

I have the buggy up on jackstands with my engine out being rebuilt. I'm in the midst of doing a bunch of fun stuff to it but the 17 inches of snow, 35 degree temps, and no light when I get home from work keep screwing with me. That and my job keeps getting in the way.

Murzi, I think all marine stores or marinas have the buss bar.

Yesterday I put my hood and windshield back on, made brace for windshield wiper motor, put axles in, did some cipherin about how to run fuel line up tranny with brackets and started routing wires. I get steel for seat mounts tonight. Leaving now for the U Pulli It. Need seat belts, headlight relay/dimmer. Also going to surplus place to buy stainless bolts for 1/4 of what they cost locally and get more wire terminals and ties.

are you using a fuel filter in line? i am thinking of moving mine out of the engine com partment and trying to figure out where under the car or whatever that I should locate it instead.

Fuel injected bugs had the filter right at the tank. Seems like a safe enough place to me. That's where I plan on putting mine.

I'll have to agree with dpgregitis. Even tho I'm in California, by the time I get home, it's dark and my day job has gotten the better of me. The last thing I feel like doing is going out to the shop and wrenching on the buggy. There's something about a cold metal building that sucks the energy right out of you.

Murz,

If you can't find a standard Bus-bar, Radio Shack sells an 8-position Barrier Strip that will work just as well. The barrier strip comes with a solid metal jumper that ties together all the strips to make it a 'bus'.

This is the one I used. For the lights/ignition strip, I cut the solid metal jumper in half, and used the left side of the strip for lights, and the right side for ignition.

Crap. I did nothing but get my new laptop set up like I like it. My other laptop was destroyed by my 15 mo old boy. I was so mad.!!!
My buggy is in the shop this week getting the new engine and turbo installed. I worked on it all weekend fine tuning the new wires for all the new things added for the turbo. filled the new trans with oil checked the bolts , added a few to the pan/ body. I never did completely bolt it down. It is good enough now. I welded some tow/ hold down brackets on the bumper too. looks great.
I wanted to go play in the sand dunes the weekend but I don't think it will happen.
I don't remember how much time is needed to brake in a new engine, I am loosing time fast to do so. tuning the turbo is going to take some time too. with getting the jets correct. it will run rich more than not. as when just driving normal there is no boost but when you hit it the boost will lean it out. so to keep that from happening i will have to run rich under normal conditions. how rich it the question and this is what takes time.

I am taking the body off of the pan and every bolt is so rusted that they have to be broken off. So that is fun fun. Pretty much have the whole body unbolted just need a place to store it so I can start working on the rusty hole infested pan. So this evening I am thinking I am going to have to clean out the other side of the garage in order to have a place to put the body.

I just stared at the engine a while - I ordered a new svda and kadron throttle body earlier in the day from Aircooled and seeing how much of a pain in the ass its going to be to swap it out. (body work is very close to the carb).

Then trimmed the rubber seal for the windshield (I broke the glass) that I hope to be installing tonite

Found a BUSS BAR today. Now All I have left to finish it is to wire it and fab up the beam to body mount. I am thinking a Saturday and Sunday should do it. I have 99% of the wiring in looms sitting in a big box. I am hoping it will be plug and play.

Nice buggy murz. It would be or was for me much easier to wire the buggy while it is off the pan. I sat mine up on buckets so when i sat on a chair i would be at eye level with the bottom of the dash. then again I had a lot of stuff to wire like stereo 3gauges 4 switches ignition horn wipers turn sig etc etc etc.. well you will have the same i ab sure. i just cant think of doing it while laying down in a buggy

Yep I picked this up. It is made by Cole heresee??? I paid like 12 bucks. Part number was JB 8 at CARQUEST.

all i have done lately is talk on the phone to try and get my title i was suposed to get over a year ago, but the good news is that i am picking it up tomarrow \:D/ cant wait. now all i have to do is find a nice bench seat or a nice set of seats for the buggy ](*,)

after that i just have to re-carpet the dash, get a new horn, carpet the floor and its off to get registered and hopefully a nice rattle can paint job when it starts to get warm out. who knows maybe il be driving it soon [-o<

my dream car seems to be coming together....i hope

Wiring while body is on - If you have the stock seat mounts on the pan, its VERY uncomfortable to lay on this - I have a piece of plywood maybe 14" by 30" with a chunk of 2x4 screwed to the short ends to lay on the floor of the car (gets me over the seat mounts). Keeps the grease off my new coveralls and its not as uncomfortable.

I apologized to mine about the snow & salt on the roads, and reminded him that spring is coming. This week I ordered the new front wheel bearings & brake parts he's been needing.
