As soon as I put the front pulley on, it will not turn over
I know for sure the oil slinger is install correctly , just put it together last week
Set the end play installed the front pulley and its locked,
If I take off the pulley it will turn free again, I have done a search but no answers but oil slinger could be backwards, this is why I took it apart .... second time and now
I'm reaching out . thanks |

Check the diameter of the hub on the pulley, and compare it to the bore in the case. Some of the aluminum pulleys are too large.
Make sure the inside of the pulley isn't hitting a long oil pump stud.
The slinger's "cup" should be facing the pulley.

id built one that did the same thing, turned out that the pulley was rubbing the case snout. I think someone had dropped the case and it landed on the snout and moved it just enough to make contact. I could see the shiney spot where the pulley was rubbing and just to some sandpaper to it and cleaned it right up, no probllama |

Or possibly the crank snout is bent a bit, check it for run out with your indicator.
Pulley may be fine. |

Could your oil pump cover be pressing the tin against the crankshaft pulley?
Ask me how this came to mind....

All clear on oil pump .
I will have to look more at the pulley looking for shinny areas, and will measure
moving forward !!! |

BFB Thank -you
You were correct, on closer inspection the pump cover was the problem,
I will post a picture
I ground it down and it looks good.
cheers

Good that you found it, but the "winner, winner, chicken dinner" goes to me !!!
Bad that the suppliers have KNOWN about such clearance issue for years, and the same products still get made and sold. As I have stated before, the Maxi2 oil pump covers I purchased in early 1980s and in 2017 both had same issue, even though the casting had been updated changing the stamping name from "Claude's Buggies" to "CB Performance" over that time.
For example aluminum adapter plates for aftermarket Weber carburetors for small trucks continue to be supplied "warped" so folks need to sand flat on a piece of glass, and the adapter notch needs to be ground larger for the PCV hose to attach to the manifold. |

Thats right, wasn’t me that said it. Gotta give credit where credits due.
Also, i think a lot of those pumps are designed for power pulleys so if you use a larger size this is the issue you into. Ive swapped “stock” size pulleys that did this for a power pulley and had no issue, they should state that in the listings or directions if there are any. But you figure it out quick enough regardless |

Cusser thanks, :) 100 % x2
I actually thought it was the oil slinger . broke it down last Monday and it was fine, but not total a wast of time . found out I missed filling the return on the oil pump and the return on the case. I taped them but didn't put in the plugs,
Now full flow will be flowing better .
BFB I could not find a power pulley around this area. so went for stock,
thanks for all your help hopping to start and break in this weekend, |
