| Is there a difference in port size, between the 1700, 1800, 2000 exhaust ports besides being ovel and square. I find in header selections listed there 42,45 and 48mm I assume that is the pipe size but what about the port? |

I am pretty sure that excluding the late square ports all others are the same, even the 914 2.0 with different intake the exhaust ports are the same. I am not 100% on that, but like 98% sure. I'm sure someone will be along to correct me if I am wrong though.
I am guessing the sizes you list are the actual tubing sizes for the headers, which will be important depending on the size of the engine. |

| The flange size is the same for all oval ports. |

The flange size is indeed the same on all oval ports.
There are subtle differences in shape and volume between the different type 4 heads,
But nothing that will change which header you pick.
Those large tubing headers are for large displacement engines with large valves. |
