Can a Super Beetle's gas tank be modified for the fitting required by this system's pump/filter/line combo unit?

Not really.

I recently installed an in-tank pump into my super beetle tank centred over the low point at the front of the tank where the original pick up is located.

Could you just add in a 'T' to the line to the filter/pump ? Just don't use the threaded one supplied and return the fuel to the 'fuel in' side.....pre filter.

I have to modified the fuel pump assembly and use the 75-79 super beetle fuel tank.

Thanks for the pictures, AMS. What did you do w/the threaded end of the original pump assembly? That's the one item not visible in your pics.

I'm guessing he didn't use it. Just took a hose to each of the tank connections.

I removed it since it was designed for a standard Beetle/Bus fuel tank. I also removed the threaded part and replaced it with a barb splicer for the fuel line to my tank.

If you want, you can ask for more pictures, and I can add them to the gallery.

the comparison on 34pict and Fis2 looking down

and this screw is where you can adjust the idle

and adding the fuel injection line along the channel instead of using the stock fuel line which they give press fitting for it.
this is optional:

This is the cylinder head temp sensor for the ECU it replace the tins screw.

i relocated the sensor and i have to drill the tin for the thread.

Why did you relocate the sensor? Is this a better spot for an accurate head temp? And did you have to tap the head for that spot?

Some heads come with the temp sensor drilled and tapped.
My Tims Stage 2 heads arrived drilled and tapped for the temp sensor.

I don't have temp sensors in my cars.

I relocated the spark plug because it’s easier to remove the #1 spark plug now. The old method, which involved replacing the tin screw with an adapter, was obstructive, requiring the adapter’s removal to access the spark plug.

The head temperature is likely the same since the brass adapter conducts heat to the sensor. However, I believe the head-to-sensor setup is better than the head-adapter-sensor configuration.

The head already comes with a threaded part. The hardest part was making the hole for the thread without damaging it

it really shouldnt matter where you put the temp sensor - in this configuration (all of the EFI systems for our aircooleds including the factory) this is just a on/off switch for the cold start fuel enrichment. "is it warm yes or no" is all it serves.

it's not a true head temp - it's a replacement (and used in place of) a coolant temp sensor that says "hey we hit enough water temp"

I'd have swapped it out for Mario's sensor, which is much lower profile. interesting approach, this one, but yeah it really gets in the way of the plug.
