View original topic: Fast Fab vs JayCee Spring Push Rod Tubes

I see the Fast Fab's have a stainless steel washer on both ends of the tube as a backing to help keep the rubber seal seated.

The JayCee only has a washer backing on one end.

Which set should I get.

Thank you!

I use the FastFab…high quality

Unfortunately no experience with Jaycee’s tubes

There was a comment there about FastFab I wanted you to see. I have the Jaycee ones before EMPI acquired it. Never had an issue. Clean / wash them before install.

Oh. Thank you.

I have original JayCee tubes before EMPI so I can't speak to the latest ones, but my originals have been leak free and came with washers for both ends. I did replace the o-rings this last time because they were getting a little wear from removal and install and I used Nitrile 22mm OD 2mm width. Be sure and use a little lubricant on the o-rings.

Thank you. Maybe I am missing something but if I look at Jaycee, the one end of the tube is not machined to take a washer

I have this set from CB. Very nice, adjustable width. Uses stock seal in center. Large ID. No leaks.

I got mine a long time ago at a local shop.
I did find this pic of the original JayCee packaged ones and it appears they only had washers for one end in that package so maybe Steve (the shop owner) gave me extra washers for the other end?

I bought the Fast Fabs in 2019, used them on 3 different engines.

I imagine they are the same design as Jaycee, but anodized.

Seems like the most common reason for leaks now is the seal cut at the heads…not a pushrod tube problem.

Since I am in between engines, I pulled one out of the drawer.
The JayCee's I have have 2 different size valve spring shims for washers.

Those are just valve spring shims. Jaycee/Empi now provides a stainless washer in the kit. The valve spring shims you have are wider then the washer they currently provide so it supports the seal better (obviously you have 2 different shims-I would use the widest necessary to support the entire pushrod tube seal.
