Here's a pic of my engine, and my redneck wiring job. I did it this way to crank for oil pressure. For clarification: To get it to fire I need to run a wire from the positive side of the solenoid to a positive terminal on the coil. Is that right? So where the red jumper cable is attached to the + of the coil?

| Dale, thank you, yes I did see that, but it’s way more than I need. I don’t need to run the alternator, idiot lights, etc. All I need is juice to the starter (check), juice to the fuel pump (check), and juice to the ignition. And that’s the part I’m trying to confirm. I could probably figure that part out by looking at the diagram you provided. |

Dude, you're over/under thinking the power to the coil issue.
Simply, place a jumper on the positive cable on the starter and jump it to the #15 post on the coil and you'll have power to the ignition on the engine.
I bought a set of 10 jumper wires from a computer store a few years ago and run all my fresh engines with them when bench starting them. |

THen don't run them go minimalist... Connect battery and connect coil to a powered switch or just a jumper wire.... |

That's what I do, nothing fancy, just get it done. |
