The latest addition to my bus collection is this 74 Jurgens Autovilla, built by Jurgens, a South African caravan builder.

I will be cleaning the bus up this weekend; I'll take more pics then.

It has an 1800 Type 4 engine.

I want one - but you need to move the steering wheel to the other side first. Laughing

Are there are any of those in US or Canada?

I seem to remember two Autovillas here in US. A really ruff (79?) in So Fla. The other in the PNW. Fig, you have nice one . The best example I've seen , in picts anyway. I'd imagine there's still a few around in S.A ?

No, it's a 1974 350SE manual, with a 200hp 3.5l V8 and a four-speed manual gearbox; this model was not offered in the US.

Thanks. Although only about 1,000 were made, you do still see them quite regularly in SA. Most of them are low-milers because they tended to be used once or twice a year. But because they are so big many of them have been parked outdoors and have suffered weather damage.

This one has 118,000km on the odo and its original 1800 Type 4 engine. It has also been parked outdoors and, although it's in excellent mechanical condition, there is some weather damage: some rust in the cab doors and steps, and two places where water has leaked in to the interior and damaged the panelling and timber frame.

A friend of mine rolled one of these last year and I have bought the wreck for parts, so I should be able to repair the interior damage with correct panels.

More pics to come after we've cleaned it up.

Yes. Smile It's an 8-track/radio, and it has a cassette adaptor.

I will probably sell it.

Looks good Fig ! I think I've got some 8track tapes lying around somewhere (I know one is the sound track from American Graffiti)

Will you be using her for the camp out cruise ?

Is it just my system or is there something wrong with AC SA ?

In addition to the original Owner's Manual and VW Service Book (dealer serviced to 45,000km), this original brochure came with my Autovilla:

Mine is missing two hubcaps; fortunately The Snail had two original caps so I have a complete set.

There is one in Spokane WA. It was in good driving condition a few years ago, but it has been hidden away for awhile. It's an automatic, too.
