| Type 3 output continued in Australia until 1974 and in
Brazil until 1982 (In addition to the above figures). Here are
the Brazil only Type 3 figures: 1. Variant & Variant II Station Wagon (Brazilian 3-Door Squareback): 297,773 units from 1969-1982. 2. 2 & 4 Door Notchback (1968-1972) & 2-Door Fastback (1973-1977): 133,763 units total. 3. Karmann-Ghia Touring Coup� (1970-1975): 18,119 units based upon the Type 3 Razor-Edge Ghia. 4. SP 1 & 2 Coup� (1972-1975): 10,205 units total. The SP1 had a 1584ccm engine and the SP2 had a larger 1679ccm engine. The Type 3 SP2 Coup� had a top speed of 100 MPH and the Type 4 412 2-Door Sedan had a top speed of 96 MPH. These were the fastest production air-cooled VWs aside from the Porsche 912E Coup� (111 MPH) and the VW-Porsche 914 2.0 Roadster (115 MPH). Thanks to Marc Nonnenkamp |
