The 1600 S (or 1600 Super) was only made in '77 and '78 and is
a unique-to-South Africa curved windshield Super Beetle body with standard
fenders, '72 and earlier style, bolted to a wide 5 swing axle kingpin pan,
running a 1600 dual port. The dash is typical curved windshield Super and the
steering wheel is the late padded variety. The 1600 Sport, last car to the
right, was the factory go-fast car. It was made from '75-'78. Production ended
in July '79, for the domestically built VWs in South Africa.
