| Lightning Bug Emblem - Early 1970s |

This emblem is a twin for the one that was on my 1969 Beetle autocross car shown in an earlier photo posting. I keep it on my desk as a memento. The one on the car broke when it was removed, but I still have it in my emblem collection.
Not sure of the origin of these, but I bought a bunch from the Dealer (Aricson VW, Norristown, PA) where I worked back in 1973. I was told that they were part of a "Glitter Bug" package marketed regionally by VWoA around that time.
Footnote (03/20/10): I recently located information that confirmed that this emblem was introduced at the time of the "Glitter Bug" Beetles in 1970. The part number was ZVW 813 250 and the suggested retail price was $2.95 as 0f 07/71! |
